Getting started with orange...

Welcome to August in the Rainbow Scrap Challenge!
I'm ready to sew with orange - are you?
It has become one of my favorite colors.

I usually start the month by sorting, cutting, and sewing up the pieces needed for a patchwork heart.  Before you know it, I had an orange heart!

There are nine of these now - aren't they fun?!  I'm planning to make 13 of them, so I have to decide what other colors are needed.  One thing I'm thinking I might do is remake the green heart into two - a dark and a light - just like I have both a dark blue and a light blue heart.

Along the way I got started on the four patches for the alternate block and will continue working on that this coming week.

Orange is such a happy colour. Good idea with the green hearts. You could add a black or gray or brown heart to your collection to bring the total up to 12. Gail at the cozy quilter.

Orange makes me think of fall, so I'm all for it! I love your heart blocks, especially the concentrated color ones, like the dark blue one. I still have my July 4th decor up, looking forward to switching it!

You got a great start on the orange month. It’s a bit of work, but I like the idea of the light and dark green separated. Would you just make two new ones or take the original one apart?

Those hearts are fantastic. You inspired me to start making them each month as well. Thank you!

I saw that orange block and my mind immediately thought of orange creamsicles. Could it be the hot weather that we are having that has me thinking that way? Well done to have a start so early in the month!

Oooo, your orange heart looks lovely. Maybe that needs to be my first orange work of the month??? Also, re-making is not fun, but I like the idea of a light & dark green. It's all looking really great.

Your scrappy hearts are so pretty, Diann! I wonder if my pattern and templates for Seven Sisters will get here (from Australia) in time for me to make an orange block for August?

Love the orange heart! I’m using more orange in quilts, too. I think your idea of two greens is a good one.

It always amazes me how much I disliked orange when I was young but now? Yep! One of my faves. Love it, and I love your little tablescape--way to bring out that fall stuff (pumpkin)! I start bringing it out in August because I can never get enough of it!
