A finish for the Stay at Home Round Robin 2022! I joined in with this quilt-along hosted by Gail of Quilting Gail and several other quilting friends again this year, and am really happy to share my finish!
It all started with a grocery bag of scraps that a friend handed me back in January. I didn't even look at them, just said I'd take them!
The bag turned out to be full of beautiful prints in all colors that are designed by Petra Prins, inspired by 17th and 18th century Dutch chintz, and called Dutch Heritage Fabrics. There were all sizes of pieces from smallish - 6 inch squares - to pieces about 11 x 20 inches.
You can get a good idea of what these prints look like by taking a peek at the back I pieced out of several of the bigger pieces.
I also needed a center block for this project, so I chose a Kathy Schmitz embroidery design that I had finished way back in June. The 1976 refers to our wedding date: January 9, 1976!
Following along with all of the weekly prompts during the QAL, I added curved borders, diamonds, stars, signature blocks, applique, and shooflies before finishing up the top.
Piecing the backing, basting the layers, and quilting didn't take long at all for a quilt of this size - about 25 inches square. I even added some hand quilting to the center block, using the same variegated blue DMC floss that I stitched the original design in.
And here is my finish, hanging in my sewing room until I find the perfect spot for it, somewhere in our house.
Big thanks go to Gail, Anya, Emily, Roseanne, Sue, Wendy, and Chris for inviting all of us to participate and providing lots of inspiration and support throughout the QAL!

Congrats on this beautiful finish, Diann.
It gets prettier every time I see it. The blue quilting is genius.
Such a pretty wall hanging and I love your embroidery! It deserves a nice place of honor in your home! Have a great day!
What a terrific little quilt! So fun to follow the prompts to make a unique project!
I keep thinking to make some sisters blocks but never get to them with all the other tops currently making - I love seeing yours today
Beautiful job and a great finish! I love your embroidery blocks.
your SAHRR turned out beautiful and perfect fabric for your center embroidery!
A one of a kind treasure made from scraps and your creativity!
Beautiful finish and the hand embroidered block is just so perfect for the quilt and fabrics.
Love the hand embroidered center block and the story behind all those wonderful fabrics!
Your SAHRR turned out beautifully! Love it! We got married November 16, 1975. Happy stitching!
Recycling at its best. You took someone leftovers and turned them into a beautiful hanging. It's been interesting to see how many people adapted the SAHRR to keep the finished projects smaller.

That is so cute! Love it! Congratulations on finishing this cute mini AND on using up only gifted fabrics. ;^)
What a great finish! And to use fabric from your goodie bag is a real bonus!
Very creative! How sweet that the scraps coordinated so beautifully with your stitchery. Congratulations on the finish!
Your quilt is beautiful, Diann . It has been fun to watch this quilt come together and what great memories you will have especially knowing many of the fabrics were scraps from a friend. Also I am in love with your Raggedy Ann and Andy not to mention their sweet quilt. Have a great week, my dear.
What a fun little finish Diann. Those fabrics are quite pretty. And I always love to see your embroidery pieces. Thanks for sharing with Oh Scrap!

Such a pretty finish, and lovely way to show off that pretty center block!
I absolutely LOVE your SAHRR!! The embroidery is delightful (you got married the same year that I did!) And how you treated each round is fantastic!
Thank you very much for joining in the SAHRR 2022 and for linking to the Linky Party Parade!
The bluework center add so much to this round robin. Great work, Diann!
I've loved this from the very first. The bluework block, the gorgeous prints, your stitching - it's just lovely, and such a beautiful addition to your home. I really want to do something like that for a "est 1969" for us! Of course your mention of Petra Prins has sent me down a rabbit (or squirrel!) hole this morning! Very nice finish Diann!
What a super finish, Diann! It turned out so cute!!
Oh my! Breathtakingly beautiful, Diann!!!
