Hand-pieced Progress

I've been moving right along on piecing together the sashing, cornerstones, and rows to connect my Book Club blocks into a quilt top!

This needs a good pressing, but I've found it works better to
press hand-pieced quilt tops after everything is stitched together.

My Claire, the block with orange peel shapes, turned out a bit larger than 9.5 inches, so some of her edges have gotten lost in the seam allowances, but I'm not going to worry about that.  I'll just chalk that up to being very inexperienced at using templates to cut out quilt block pieces.

I guess she really doesn't look too bad!

Just one more block to finish surrounding with sashing and cornerstones, and I'll be able to finish up the last row.

the Book Club QAL weekly link-up at Elm Street Quilts.

Your red and white color scheme is a knockout! By far it’s the most beautiful one I’ve seen! Congratulations on a great quilt, Diann!

Yes using templates and hand piecing are so different from machine piecing. It takes time to get the feel of it and be consistant. I love how this is coming together, and you are so right better to wait to press. Pressing and not stretching is still something I struggle with.

"She" doesn't look too bad at all; actually "she" looks wonderful. The red and white colour scheme in this quilt is beautiful. I look forward to seeing the blocks stitched together and then the quilting. Enjoy your stitching.

I just love your blocks and this quilt. All the hand piecing. I barely have time to just sew.

Oh what beautiful hand stitched blocks!

So very pretty! You did a great job with the hand stitching. Applying the galloping horse rule, no one will ever notice the beginners error on that one block with the curved piecing.
