I Like Thursday #165

Happy Thursday!  Thanks for visiting my every-Thursday post of things I've found to like over the last week!  I'm joining in as always with LeeAnna and her group of positive posters at Not Afraid of Color.

At my quilt group's December get together last Thursday, we had a fun gift exchange!  You can see what I gave in this previous post.  Here's what I brought home - a sweet little hand-stitched wool mat with snowmen!

I'll leave this out after Christmas and get out more snowmen to join it.

Last weekend when our son was home, we enjoyed going to this movie!

It's one of those interesting murder mysteries with lots of twists and turns!  We had fun talking about it afterwards in the car on the way home, too.

I mentioned in my To-Do Tuesday post that I wanted to try making some soup bowl cozies for last minute gifts.  Thank you to everyone who commented with tips and tutorials for making them!  I ended up using Roseanne's tutorial at Home Sewn by Us, and made one that turned out great!  Thanks, Roseanne!

Now to make a few more!

I've been enjoying my Jacquie Lawson Advent Calendar each day this month.  A sweet friend sends this to me every year.  There are fun scenes to visit and activities to do for each day.

This is a screenshot of my cottage in the Cotswolds that I
have been "decorating" for Christmas!

I meant to share this little tree last week, but forgot to include it!  This is the tree my friend decorated for a charity auction, and the rest of us in my quilt group gave her ornaments and sewing items to put on it.  I think it turned out so cute!

Have a wonderful week, everyone!

What a cute snowman mat, and I actually love your votive too. Did you make the votive? I am definitely going to consider making the cozy - yours turned out great.

I wonder if we have the same friend who sends the annual Advent calendar! Her initials are KO. I always look forward to reading your blogs and am inspired to work on my quilts things!

Hi Diann! Oh, your cozy turned out great. I haven't heard of that movie - I'll have to check it out. I've been wanting to go see a movie - maybe next week we can squeeze one in. You are decorating your cottage so nicely! Maybe you can add a few friends over, visiting and enjoying the welcoming setting. ~smile~ Roseanne

I love that wool mat - so nice and inviting for the holidays - or winter in general - I have not seen that movie but did see previews it is on my list to see

My son, the movie critic (really!), loved that movie. Did you do two layers of batting? and did you trim the darts?

Beautiful snowman mat. I love the Christmas decorating photos. I am so behind in my reading. My eyes are such that I can either read or sew and or stitch but usually have to pick just one on any given day. As the winter goes on I will probably do more reading snuggled under the quilts. Thanks for sharing Thursday with me ... :-) Pat

I've gotten the Jacquie Lawson advent calendar for the last two years. The ornament smashing game is my favorite :)

Knives Out looks like fun! I never even heard of it. We use our bowl cozies all the time. Love them. Looks like a fun week. :-)

The snowman mat is adorable! I bought the kit for it last summer and have the snowmen attached and stitched a little of the greens. I should finish it up:0 Your bowl cozy turned out great.

I was going to come back and comment on Tuesday's post when I had time and then completely forgot. Your tiny tree piece came out beautifully. I sent my CiL blocks out on Tues. I wasn't sure how I liked it with just one, but when I put 4 together, they looked interesting. I've been going to make some of those microwave soup bowl holders for a couple years. A friend even gave me the directions and a sample, but I still haven't made any. That snowman wool mat is really cute. It's nice to have some snowman things to leave out after Christmas.

Well, I don't know about the Jacquie Lawson advent calendar, so I have to go find out about it. We thoroughly enjoyed Knives Out - and also enjoyed talking about it afterward. Your little snowman mat is so cute and perfect for the winter season, and your bowl cozy came out beautifully. The little tree with ornaments turned out very well!
