This week I decided to make an alternate block that will go in between the Patchwork Hearts, and I thought of the four patch blocks I've been making out of the Little Penguin Scrap Bin.
I decided on a layout that will create a chain running through the heart design. Here's the green block.
I also made a blue block because I had already sewn enough blue four patches. Here's how they'll go together. I think this could work!
And, although not scrappy, this definitely fits in with green month... I got the center sewn together and borders on the Rainbow Bowties!
Today's job is to get the batting and backing cut
and everything ready to sandwich together for quilting.
This will be a good weekend for doing some hand quilting -
today's high temperature is supposed to be 5 degrees!

Those 4 patch blocks do make a nice alternate block to go with the hearts. Your Bow Tie quilt is coming together beautifully! The green makes a really nice frame for the scraps. Happy stitching this weekend. I most certainly don't want to get out in the cold!

working on a quilt hand quilting in cold weather will be nice - I think the bowties turned out really good! Cold starts here tomorrow - we already have it at night but tomorrow starts it during the day too.
It's always a good thing to have a quilt in your lap, whether binding it or hand-quilting it, when 🎵🎶 the weather outside is frightful! 🎶🎵 Both projects are looking good.
Great idea of the chain block to alternate with your scrappy hearts. It’s going to be a beautiful quilt. I too like the green border. I was just searching my posts to see when I’d finished my hollow 9 s quilt. It was May 2022 and it too has a green border that I still like!
Love the chain blocks! It's going to make a great colorful quilt. I Love the bowties top, too! Full of admiration for the hand piecing. If it's only going to be 5 degrees, I recommend covering up in two quilts!

Lovely progress on all things. We were in the teens and twenties today, but our single and below digits are coming tomorrow! Today I spent reorganizing the sewing room. I added an old file cabinet to hold a heat press and printer. I am seriously out of room!!!! Tomorrow will be sewing of some sort and trying a sublimation project (color heat transfer).
Brrrrr. . . it's cold here too. Actually too cold to work in the studio! I like your green blocks. I hope you get your bow ties basted and ready for quilting!

Lovely bow tie top! And nice idea to include chain blocks as alternates. I always love diagonal movement on a quilt. Stay warm, it's cold here today too (-5).
Between your bow ties and a few finished quilts I've seen recently I decided to make bow ties for the RSC this year. I think I'll try for 4 for each color. Heaven knows I may change my mind but at least it is a start. I like your alternate blocks. They look terrific with your hearts. Great choice. Enjoy your stitching.
