A Little Bit More with Purple

I said at the beginning of the month that I might have to do a little stash enhancement in order to have enough purple for my various rainbow projects - but I haven't done any shopping yet, and I keep coming up with purple to use!

This week I pulled out this fat quarter and decided it could work for my Full Stop semi-colons.  This is one of the few times when my purple looks prettier on screen than in real life, lol!  To my eyes this is kind of a brown-purple, like raisins!

I had to zoom in on the selvage here, because it is kind of neat!

I googled this fabric name and it appears to be mostly out of stock -
maybe it's an older line?

In any case, it sewed up quickly into 12 semi-colons, using Angela's tutorial here.  These just need their connecting strips to be finished up for the month.

Now, though, I'm really down to the crumbs, but they work to make some hearts!

One heart completed, and two slabs for the second one!

This week I also recieved a gift in the mail from Sarah at Confessions of a Fabric Addict for participating in Hands2Help this year.  Isn't Sarah so great to do that for everyone who sends a quilt to one of the charities?   Thanks, Sarah, and thank you to all your sponsors, too!

Batting and a great - looking pattern!  Both will be used.

Check out more purple projects at SoScrappy for ScrapHappy Saturday!

Your purple semi-colons are great, Diann. And the fabric is beautiful.
You are doing the best with your crumbs, I love your crumbs heart. You sure deserve the gifts. Happy weekend!

You may not have to do any stash enhancement! I Googled it and found a few pieces at a few stores, but not that raisin-y purple. Looks great in your blocks.

I have some purples you can have if you need some.

Some colors are really hard to photograph and get the true color, even outside! I received the exact same gift from Sarah:)

Well I ended up finding that line in two different shops and liked it so much I just had to purchase some of it! I'm blaming you. :D

It always feels good to use up those odd colors and fat quarters that just don't fit in most projects. It turned out great for your semicolons, and the hearts look good too. We should all start a fund to reimburse Sarah for all her postage!

Sweet hearts!
I saw orphan train on the selvage. I just finished a historical fiction book about the actual orphan trains that took orphans from NY to the midwest.

Ooh - I like that purple.

We went to a museum that was showing quilts from the early 1800s, I think. Lots of brown fabric. And then they told us that all the browns were originally purple! They all faded to brown as they got old.

I struggle to get purples to photograph true, also! Such problem children they are!
I love those crumb hearts of yours! Can't wait to see what they grow up to be!

Crumb hearts are terrific! And I know what you mean about the raisin-purple color. Some of my purple repros are like that. I like them, but then again I really love brown.

You've made good use of your purple odds and ends, the heart worked out well.

You have the same kind of stash as I do...lots of scraps and discoveries to be made in the deep stash. Nice blocks.
