To-Do Tuesday #70

Good morning!  I'm checking in today with my weekly to-do list and linking up with Roseanne and friends for the To-Do Tuesday linky party at Home Sewn By Us

Last week's list was all about enjoying the holiday, and I did my best to do just that!  Since we were staying home and not spending time with any family, enjoying the holiday (for me) involved playing with fabric, and here's what I made.

Our holiday in fabric:

Mike and I, and our two sons, snug in our three little houses,
roads connecting us, but not traveled this year,
a snowy landscape, Christmas trees!
and the Great Conjunction of Jupiter and Saturn in the sky!

I also enjoyed a Christmas book, Lakeshore Christmas, by Susan Wiggs, and the "Call the Midwife" holiday special on PBS.  Cookies were baked and eaten as well.  Thank goodness for Zoom - we saw all of our loved ones that way this year!

Now I'm ready to get back to "normal!"  (Are we there yet? :)   This week between Christmas and New Years is typically my week to clean up, organize, and figure out what I want to focus on in the new year.  So here's what's on the list:

1.  Take down the tree and put away Christmas decorations. (I usually do this on New Year's Day.)

2.  Work on a list of WiPs and possible new projects for 2021.  Such as the "To be quilted" pile, which includes Rainbow Jungle.  (I did finish sewing on the borders!)

This pretty dark blue-green Grunge collects and shows all of the lint and threads that collect on my sewing room floor, so that gives me to-do #3 -

3.  Vacuum sewing room floor.  🤣

Plenty to keep busy with this week!

Your holiday quilt/block thingy (I am not a quilter, don't know the correct term!!) is fantastic, I love it, and your rainbow jungle quilt is gorgeous, so colourful. I usually leave the decs up til the 6th, but I have a feeling this year I'll take them down early, I feel the need for space.

I like that little quilt! It came out great. We keep our Christmas stuff up until Epiphany (and I keep the candle lights up until February, just to keep the gloom away). Just the sewing room needs vacuuming? I track thread all over the house! lol

Ah I like the sentiment of the three houses! so true for many of us this year - all in our own houses wishing we could be in one - but not for the whole year LOL -

Hi Diann! Oh, taking down the decorations after the holiday is my least favorite thing to do. It seems so dark after our tree and village are gone. Rainbow Jungle looks fab with that Grunge dark green border. It's just the perfect choice, in my book. Are you playing along with RSC in 2021? We are going to join and I see on the website that pink is the January color. Thanks for linking up today. Happy New Year! ~smile~ Roseanne

That is a great little quilt! Sounds like you had a nice relaxing holiday. :) Our tree stays up at least till Epiphany but my whole "take the decor down" is a slow process because it just leaves the house so...NOT festive. (I always think I should work on some January decor to counter that but what? Snowflakes?) Happy New Year!

Oh! Your little quilt turned out so cute! What a fun memory of the holidays of 2020! You have some good goals for the week. Vacuum the floor reminds me that I need to sweep mine!

I love your mini house quilt! So much sentiment there! I’ll help DS take down his Christmas decorations when he is ready! None at my house, but I will have to switch November (Thanksgiving) to January, I have sone Snowman items that I like to feature. Rainbow Jungle is looking fabulous! The dark grunge was a great choice!

Man, I love that Rainbow Jungle. Can't say that enough. I love using grunge for lots of things and have it in over 20 colors. I even bought 3 pieces of the same lavendar over time. Guess I really like it. Just the two of us here for the holiday as well with phone calls and texts flying across the country. Be safe and well.

What a nice project you made with the house blocks!! I love them! The rainbow jungle is such a happy quilt! Have a safe and happy new year!

The Rainbow Jungle caught my eye. I have a printout of the tree pattern -- one version of it, at least -- and I really need to put it on my to-make list. I like your 2020 souvenir quilt. I always seem to have forgotten one item after all the Christmas decorations are packed up and put away.

Diane, what are the dimensions of the block pieces for the Rainbow Jungle quilt? My search is only showing photos of your quilt on pinterest, your blog and other places. That looks like a fun thing to have on hand to work on. Thanks.

I absolutely love your holiday quilt, such a sweet idea! A clever memory quilt!
Love the jungle too!
I hate putting the decorations away and leave them to the 6th, it’s so dull when they’re gone!
Hugs,
Barbara xx

What a delightful little Christmas 2020 memento (as if any memory of 2020 could be delightful). I hope you will incorporate your description of it into your label. Not sure whether I'll start clearing Christmas things on New Years or wait until the 6th. Once the trees and Santas are put away, I'll bring out the rest of the snowmen. And now, since Angela has already announced the January color, I need to buckle down and settle on my new RSC projects.

Vacuuming is not my favorite thing. But it needs to be done every once in awhile. I stretching seated on the floor tonight and ended up picking up stray threads. Needles to say it looked much better! On to the next year -- it "should" be better than this one. Although I know I'll continue to enjoy my studio time piecing and quilting.

Your little family quilt is so adorable! It will be wonderful to someday see those we love like we used to. Hopefully you are together with them soon :)
