I've been stitching some of the hexagons together to make a table mat. Here's how they look so far.
The shape looks a little odd until you compare what I've sewn so far to my layout plan from a few weeks ago.
The ladder stitch has worked perfectly to hide the stitches that connect each hexagon, even the red one.
I'll be slow stitching on this project today while football games are on, and linking up with Kathy's Quilts for Slow Sunday Stitching.

I really like how this is turning out - I have never made hexies like this it is interesting for sure!
I have that pattern and templates from MSQ Co./I haven't begun to make them yet. Yours are really pretty all together...I've never done the ladder stitch before, so it will be fun to try out...

What a fun project! Enjoy your slow stitching time today.
What a fun project! I love the shape of the runner. The ladder stitch is the perfect way to join your hexies
This is looking great. Your ladder stitching is invisible.

Merry Christmas Diann!
So bright and happy! I like using the ladder stitch on EPP, and also to close pincushions.
Love seeing how your hexagons are coming out. Great work! Happy Holidays!
I often ladder stitch when doing handsewing and needleturn applique with a ladder stitch is my favorite hand applique technique.
Your mat is lovely!
Best holiday wishes.
