A Little Bit of Blue

It's always fun to have a new color of the month to work with for the Rainbow Scrap Challenge!  I didn't post about my Maple Leaves and 9 Patches in June because I had already made the yellow blocks last year when I was first playing around with the idea of multi-colored maple leaves.

But I did get them out this week and made some blue blocks to add to the collection.

I'm not sure what I will do with these blocks yet - keep adding to them until I have enough for a lap size quilt, add sashing or not, make a table topper or mini - just not sure.  I need at least one more color if I want a square of just the leaves, but what color?  So far I've made red, orange, yellow, green, teal, blue, brown, and purple.  Suggestions, anyone?!

For now, I'm just enjoying all this lovely color!

Ahh, I was a bit perplexed with the yellow picture. I like the pairing with the 9-patches.

Well, your blocks are gorgeous, as usual. If it were my quilt, I would add another red leaf. The one you have has a lot of white and golden orange in it, so a real red red would be nice. Or a maroon block, or even a bright, darker green. xo

your blocks work so well together what about pink as you do not have any or even black I always find black makes thing pop maybe not though as I usually use it for sashing etc

I am sewing my scraps vicariously through you as I just can't take the time right now to do it for real! I like the looks of this layout with the leaves and 9 patches.

I just love these blocks and particularly the blue.
I agree with all the suggestions above. ;)

Great looking blocks! I was also thinking you could include hot pink.

I'm loving these blocks together so far. You could add a different shade of each colour you've already made like a darker green, brighter red, brighter orange, lighter purple, a darker brown. Also you could add pink, black, grey, dark teal, raspberry, so many shades of all these colours.

Lovely blocks! The layout with the 9-patches would already make a great table topper, or you could make one more in each color and have a great lap quilt.

It is all lovely!

I like the idea of adding some darker greens and oranges, maybe gold too. It's going to be pretty no matter what direction you go.

I couldn't decide what color to suggest, but then when Cynthia suggested pink, I knew that was exactly right! (And I'm not even a fan of pink!)

I like the combined nine patches and leaves best. The leaves do not look pushed together, plus the variety of colors is very nice. Otherwise, I'm for a medium pink.

Agreed. The nine patches and maple leaves look great together.

I have seen 8 of these leaves arranged in a very nice wreath. Set them in a white background, and you're done! I love the fresh modern colours. :D

A warm multicolor one! I, too, like the nine patches with the leaves. Looking forward to what you decide!

I really like the Leaf blocks mixed with the 9-Patches! Looking forward to seeing what becomes of these blocks.

Definitely need a pink Maple Leaf block - it's the only RSC color not represented yet! I like the 9-patches with the leaves, too.

So many great comments already. I like the blocks together... maybe add prink and a darker green =). Good luck with your decisions.

Love the combination of 9 patch and maple leaves. My first idea for your extra colour choice would be pink.

I really like the colours you have in these especially the aquas. For some reason those lighter colours are calling to me at the moment so maybe a yellow green?
