Can you guess what these are?
This month's Table Scraps project was made because of a request from my DH, who saw a need for something for our new car. I used both light and dark scraps of some gray batiks I have, a little bit of batting, and some Velcro.
What are they? They are covers for the center console arm rests in the car. Since the interior is black, and we rest our bare arms there all the time, Mike wanted to protect the upholstery from possible discoloration. So voila!
I was really pleased that my quilty math worked out correctly and these little pads fit just right! I had to make two because this opens in the center for a storage compartment.
Joy's extra challenge for month was to include cats in the project, and that was a struggle for me. Until I noticed the design in the dark gray fabric. Can you see the cat? There might even be two of them, lol!
I'm calling it good!
Thanks for these monthly challenges, Joy! They're always fun! Linking up with:

I love doing little practical projects like that. It looks great!
What a clever idea! We used to throw a towel over ours because we always had suncscreen on when we lived in Florida. We also sat on towels LOL. I love this idea and you did a great job creating them.
LOL!! Cat constellations?! What a useful TABLE SCRAPS Challenge entry, Diann. Kudos on your quilty math working out well!
Great job with the math and what a great idea Mike had for you to make it! I can see a cat or two in there.....
I would have never thought to do something like that!
What a great idea Diann! I mean, yes Mike requested it, but you implemented it - lol! Yes I see those cats. :) Isn't it nice to be able to bring someone's idea to life like that?
I see the ears! Great idea too!
What a great idea! And yes, I can see those kitty ears. A fun and different way to meet the challenge goals.
You rocked that challenge! And made a needed useful item! Very clever!
Absolutely found both cats. How very clever of you to spy them in the first place. It never would have occurred to me to make a consul cover. Looks both comfy and decorative.
Very smart idea, Diann! Well done! :)
Why didn't I think of that? Very clever of you to do this. My car's console is very light grey, like VERY light grey. It is now showing it's age because of my arm always resting on top of it. So, kudos to you and your husband. I love the "cat" constellation. ;^)
Great idea. And, yes it looks like a couple of cats' ears in that gray and white fabric.
Oh that was most clever! I think it is brilliant. I was noticing on our headreast discoloration of the leather from our HAIR. Maybe time to make a headrest cover I found 2 cats!
How clever! Useful as well as decorative.
Hi Diann, that is such a great project - so useful!
A very late comment here Diann from a rather busy little peep right now. I think your cat constellations are perfect, maybe they are part of the Leo zodiac, and I hope the covers turn out to be as useful as they are lovely. Jane in Australia
