I Like Thursday #229

Good morning, friends, and happy Thursday!  Hope you're having a good week.  It's been kind of quiet here (which isn't bad!), but I have some good things to share anyway.

I'm so happy that the tulip and daffodil bulbs I planted last fall seem to have survived the 2.5 feet of snow that was on the ground here a couple weeks ago!  They haven't bloomed yet, but I think they will soon if the weather stays nice.

With Spring comes grilling season, and we decided it was time to get a new grill.  Isn't it pretty?  It will never again be this clean and shiny, lol!

I love a pile of good books on my bedside table!  Two of these I've finished, and one is my current read.

Mortal Fall is the book I'm reading right now.  It's a murder mystery set in Glacier National Park.  Thanks go to Colette for the recommendation!
The Beekeeper's Promise is WWII historical fiction set in a small town in France - by the same author as The Dressmaker's Gift that I read for my book club discussion in February.  The two books share some of the same characters, which makes the stories interesting.
The Confession Club is by Elizabeth Berg - an author I always enjoy, but often forget about!  A really good story about a woman (among other also interesting characters) who falls in love with a homeless man.

I've been experimenting with making bookmarks out of some tiny embroidery designs I stitched.  Here's my first try:

This measures about 2.5 x 6.5 inches.

Have you seen that Sandra at mmmquilts is hosting a new QAL, starting tomorrow?  I'm looking forward to joining in.  I like the rainbow design of this quilt!  Plus, I've never made arrow blocks and really like her shadow design ideas.  I'm going to pull from my stash for the arrow blocks, but need to find the background fabric.

Now head on over to LeeAnna's place at Not Afraid of Color
for lots more "I Like Thursday" posts!

The bookmark is so sweet! Lots of good things going on at your house. I really must make the time to read more than the newspaper!

I just checked and the Beekeepers Promise is available on Kindle unlimited which I have so I got it . Nice new grill - I wish Mike enjoyed grilling (or cooking of any kind) I do not enjoy cooking outside all that much in the heat of summer so our charcoal grill usually sits empty - I'm just not good at cooking on a grill. I really should try grilling in the fall or early spring instead when it isn't so hot outside.

Cute bookmark. Did you tint it too? I think your tulips are further along than mine. I actually grilled outside a couple of weeks ago....in the cold. :D Love your books on the table, I have been amassing books on my bookshelf lately to read.

Fun to see signs of Spring popping up all over! Mr Busy has downsized his grilling to a tabletop sized Weber that we used in the camper. It’s all we really need now and so handy! I like the idea of using some tine embroidery pieces as a bookmark! Does your book club do a gift exchange at Christmas. Ours used to. We exchanged bookmarks!
Thanks for the heads up! I’m going to try to participate in Sandra’s QAL! I wonder if I have the amount of fabric needed? Hmmmm?

Yes, it's so nice to see the bulbs coming up around here too. My hyacinths got beat down a bit from the recent rain so I cut the laying down ones and brought them into the house. They smell so PURTY!!! Around here Spring means Grilling Season too. I already bought a pack of wings for teriyaki. So delicious but will make the grill super messy, for sure! Have a great week!

Hi,
My Daffodils halve bloomed and are gone for the season. Waiting on my Tulips to bloom. Haven't read any of your books...so I'll be checking them out. Enjoy your new Grill! Your book mark is really cute.......
Have a great day!

I see some tasty meals in your future with that new shiny grill! Your bookmarks are cute, and I'm going to shop my stash this afternoon to see if I have fabric for Sandra's QAL.

Hi Diann! It's amazing that burst of Spring was awaiting for those 2.5 feet of snow to melt. I am looking forward to Sandra's QAL. We're going to playing along as well. ~smile~ Roseanne

Have fun grilling this summer! I don't cook outside often either but when Hubby is in grill mode, I'll bake bread and dessert in dutch ovens so we are both out in the smoke and heat together.
