This week I finished up the March placemat for the Table Scraps Challenge I'm participating in over at The Joyful Quilter. I'm following the Rainbow Scrap Challenge color of the month (green for March) and plan to have a collection of colorful placemats to donate to my local Meals on Wheels later this year.
Instead of charm squares this month, I decided to use some jelly roll strips in coordinating colors to make the design. I paired them up, sewed lengthwise, and cut in 2.5 inch widths.
This was a fun and quick design to stitch together, and before long I had a 12.5 x 16.5 inch placemat.
A close-up of the design and quilting:
I'm ready to pass the rest of this fabric on, and maybe it's something you could use. There are 20 jelly roll strips from this line in greens, purples, and even a bit of tan/brown. There are gold threads throughout so the fabric sparkles! I made 11 Two x Four blocks (not sure why 11 and not 12, probably a cutting error!), and I'll pass those on, too, if you're interested. They are 8.25 inches square.
Would you like a half jelly roll and some orphan blocks? Let me know in the comments and I'll pick a lucky winner on Wednesday, March 17th!

Thanks for providing the dimensions of your placemats. I want to make some for our meals on wheels this year.
That green is really pretty with the purple touches! I need to check with my local MOW to see if they are accepting placemat donations. I'm happy to enter your giveaway!
The green is such a happy color. Way to use up those jelly rolls! Glad they will have a good home
Beautiful green placemate, I actually liked the 3 you made.
I would say Yes if we live closer, I am sure your half jelly roll and orphan blocks are going to get a new home and will brighten someone's life.
Happy weekend Diann!
Your placemats are all so pretty and springy. Throw my name in the hat, I would use the scraps in a donation quilt.
like how you did the placemats - I don't need more fabric :) I'm sure someone will want them!!
Your placemats are all great! I love the green backing fabric too. I would love your leftovers! I am working on scrappy charity quilts for our quilt guild this year, so they would be put to good use.
The placemats are cute and cheerful! I'll have to pass on the fabric - too many projects already.
Your placemats are fantastic. I'd love to add your scraps to my stash. Please put my name in. Thanks.
Beautiful job! I'll pass on the fabrics.... I'm trying to whittle down a bit .
Your table scraps are growing nicely! Love the checkerboard!
My scrappy soul would love to play and create with your lovely leftovers! I can see a pretty lap quilt happening there with those orphans. Your placemats are so spring-like and will be put to good use!

Very nice job on the placemat, I'm sure it brighten someone's table.
Such a nice idea to make donation placemats each month in RSC colours.
Oddly enough, my friend-from-fifth-grade’sfavorite colors are purple and green and she just retired! - and my boss, who will be retiring next year, - her favorite colors are also purple and green! I’d love to take them off your hands and pop for the postage too! Thank you!
Your placemats are so sweet! And I can imagine all kinds of things to make with those leftovers! Are you warm and dry?
Another awesome TABLE SCRAPS Challenge entry, Diann, and best of luck to the giveaway participants!!

Thanks for sharing with Oh Scrap!
Another fun placemat. I should check to see if the local Meals on Wheels would like some. No thanks on the jelly roll. I need to use what I own first! But I like the concept of spreading the love... so to speak.
what a good idea to make placemats like those!
You've got several pretty placemats now. Love the Spring-like cheerful green ones for this month.
