I Like Thursday #227

Happy Thursday, friends!  It's been a snowy week here, but the sun is out and the snow is melting, so it's starting to feel like Spring is coming.

We've spent a lot of time outside clearing the snow from our driveway, and making sure we could get out of the cul de sac in time for Mike's doctor appointment this afternoon.

I like sun on snow and kind, helpful neighbors.

Several neighbors came down the street and helped us clear the extra area we have in our small cul de sac to get to the actual road.   I think we spent more time talking with neighbors up and down the street on Monday and Tuesday than we have in a very long time!  Everybody was out doing the same thing!

It was perfect timing for some baking, so I made muffins using the recipe LeeAnna shared a few weeks ago.  Pumpkin Banana Muffins

LeeAnna is right - these are delicious!

The snowy days were good for completing a chore I've had on my list for a long time - cleaning out the kitchen drawers.  I found all kinds of buried treasure!  And now all three drawers are neat and clean - yay!

I've been reading an interesting book this week - I'm about halfway through.  It's historical fiction with two time periods - 1913 and 2013.  And the setting is the New York Public Library!  One main character lives there and the other works there.  There's a bit of a mystery involved and lots of story about the early women's movement, too.

I celebrated St. Patrick's Day yesterday by making sure I sewed something in green!  I had fun with this wonky star, using a leftover bit of jungle fabric.

Hello, Mr. Tiger!

A friend sent this fun greeting yesterday and this seemed like the perfect place to share it!

"There are good ships and there are wood ships,
the ships that sail the sea.
But the best ships are friendships,
and may they always be."

Joining in with LeeAnna and friends at Not Afraid of Color for I like Thursday.

Wow you are still getting a lot of snow? And Spring is just a two days away. Love your wonky star. The book sounds fabulous.

Glad to you back to sunny weather, but all the snow is going leave a soggy mess when it melts. Yeah for cleaning out kitchen drawers! I cleaned out the kitchen junk drawer last year, it paid off as I needed something and knew I'd seen one in there. Have a great rest of the week.

Sending warm wishes to melt your snow! I love your Irish star! :) It's so nice to see the neighbors, isn't it? Have a safe and happy week Diann!

Sweet star! That book is high on my to-read list but I'm currently in the middle of Jenna Bush Hager's book and have another already downloaded to my Kindle.

the book sounds interesting and I have requested it from the library - but a wait list as usual. love the star. It is so nice when you live in a snowy area that all get out to help clear the way to the road - when our daughter lived in Wisconsin the guys in the neighborhood did that a lot - several had snow blowers and really go to work helping clear out neighbors who couldn't do the work very well themselves.

Good you got all dug out! There sure were lots of problems on I80. We had a friend pass away on Monday, her daughter lives in New Mexico, was stuck in Cheyenne for two days!
Guess I’d better give those muffins a try! Your are fabulous looking!
Thanks for the book recommendation. That one sounds right up my alley!

Have a great weekend!

I'm so glad you had help getting that snow out of the way. I hope by now the sun is shining and it's melting. Hope, too, that Mike's appointment went well. I need to check out that book, and I love that little jungle wonky star! The poem is lovely, and so true!

Glad you were able to get your path cleared and hope Mike's appointment goes well. Those muffins look wonderful, I'm checking out that recipe. That's a cute wonky star! I do love organized drawers. The older I get the happier organization makes me - lol! That's a neat little poem.

Your snow will melt in no time esp. this time of year. I love organized drawers too. I always have too much stuff in mine. I think I should have called my Sawtooth Stars wonky. It is definitely still warm muffin season here but I must say spring is progressing nicely, at least all the birds around seem to think so. Hope you and Mike have a great weekend!

Sewing that sweet GREEN Wonky Star block was a great activity to celebrate St. Patrick's Day, Diann!!

I recently read that same book and thoroughly enjoyed it. Our snow is melting nicely today, and I'm seeing a few open spots on the lawn now that were covered with snow a couple of days ago.

Hi Diann! Wow, you can clearly see the path out today. It looks like the snow has begun to melt. Those muffins look delicious - just as good as LeeAnna's and I wanted to make them then. Ooh, that book about the NYC Library looks good. I'm going to go see if my library has it. That poem is just great as is your wonky star. ~smile~ Roseanne

We were supposed to get snow, but got rain instead. That's a chunk of snow you got! Those muffins look good. I like your green star, too.

Cleaning the kitchen drawers has been on my list for a while too. It's an ugly chore that needs to be done periodically. Good job! On a funny note: After the big snow storm that went through here too, it's hard to believe that I just laid fertilizer on the lawn in just a lightweight jacket. Haha! By the way, the muffins looks delicious.
