Birds and Bowties

Since this felt like an in between week for the Rainbow Scrap Challenge, I decided to get out my bowtie blocks and do a little sorting and counting.

I decided to go for a 9 x 10 layout, so 90 blocks.  Some colors I already have plenty of, and others need to get caught up so I can work on sewing them together!  These blocks are 6 inches finished, so I should get about a 54 x 60 quilt top out of them.

This week I made bowties of many colors - because these were the bits and pieces that were sitting on my cutting table that I needed to sort through and get put away!

You might notice that while I was cutting pieces for my Happy Birds blocks, I also cut for bowties!

I added a few more bird blocks to the collection, too.  I'm having fun finding the perfect light or dark border for the inner squares - keeping in mind that I need 24 of each eventually.

And then, since Angela announced that teal and turquoise are the RSC colors for June, a couple more bowties were stitched up!

I had fun fussy cutting those frogs!

Happy beginning of June to everyone!  Linking up with SoScrappy for ScrapHappy Saturday and Quilting is More Fun than Housework for Oh Scrap!  See you there!

Update on my Experiment with comments - it worked to bring comments to my inbox, but not sure if my replies back to you went anywhere.  I tried replying to my own comment and it never came back to me.  ;( Darn it!

I think your bow tie quilt is going to be awesome!!! For me, when the comment email comes in to my inbox, I can right click on it and scroll to properties and it then shows as a no reply blogger. So hitting reply doesn't go anywhere. If you replied to me it didn't come here. knitbug at charter dot net.

I love your happy bird blocks! I have a big batch of bird fabrics and I'm inspired to stitch up something similar with them. Yeah, let's call it "inspiration" rather than "brazen copying" :)

I've decided I'll put my address at the bottom of each comment, just to help out a bit with replying.

I am in love with your scrappy bow tie blocks! I want to make some so bad...plus, I have so many print fabrics that I'm not attached to and this would be a great way to use them!

As for the blogger issue! I've done the same thing and do get notifications. I haven't a clue if blogger has fixed the problem yet...let me know!

All of your blocks look fantastic. I am close to having my bowtie quilt blocks finished too. So glad I went with an eight inch block! Thanks for linking up with Oh Scrap!

As for the comment dilemma. It sounds like Google (blogger) is working on it but the wait is sure frustrating!

I love that fussy cut froggy in your latest set of bow tie blocks! The whole blogger thing is very frustrating, hopefully we'll see a fix this week (that's what they said last week anyway).

I just adore those Happy Birds. You have some of the cutest bird fabrics!

I'm getting pretty close to enough six inch bow ties for a quilt too. What scrappy fun!

That Frog! OMG - adorable. I have been so bad this year at keeping up and visiting the RSC. Love your bow ties and what a great quilt it will be. I too hope the comment issue gets resolved soon.
