Stitching for the birds...

This week I finished up the new April mini heart quilt for my display stand.  This was one of my favorites to stitch last year with its mama bird and babies in the nest!

Changing out the display for the new month -

We've had some birds nest in our yard over the years - one mama robin even built her nest on top of our front porch light! - but the nest I've been fascinated by since mid-February or so is the Big Bear (California) Eagles nest.  They have a nest cam there so you can watch everything that goes on.  The parents are Jackie and Shadow, and the babies are Sunny and Gizmo - they hatched about 3 - 4 weeks ago and are growing fast.

And in other bird stitching, I've continued to work on the Gail Pan embroidery project that I started last week.  It has Gail's signature bird sitting on the basket!

Still plenty of stitching to do on this one!

Your mama and baby birds embroidery piece turned out beautifully. A fun piece to display for spring. My Guy is part of the Eagle next survey crew here in Oklahoma. He occasionally gets a really good photo of them when he's out checking on nests.

Such sweet embroidery projects. Your display is so cute with all your little bowl fillers.

Your bird stitchery is beautiful! Love that vibrant green. The tonal greens are like the lawn would be from the birds' height. I've been watching the eagles too - so interesting. I was so sad when one of the babies disappeared. But the other 2 seem to be thriving.

Love the Spring birds stitching. My hubby loves his bird 🦅 photography and I love the walks with him in nature. I spot the wildlife and sometimes also take photos of nature. Those eagles up close is magnificent birds and huge.

As I read your post and write this comment the birds are singing away -- when I go out to get the newspaper at 6:00 the cardinals, especially, are declaring their territory. Your embroidered pieces are always so charming!

I love seeing the eagles and check in now and then and see how they are doing.

I love how you have so many small finishes that make such an impact on home decor! Your mini heart quilt is so beautiful and cheerful.
Yes! Sunny and Gizmo look huge for being 3 to 4 weeks old!
It looks like you’re using bard floss on your Gail Pan embroidery. It certainly adds beautiful depth and interest.

Your April mini heart stitch is so cute. The green border looks great. I have a couple of stitcheries done some years ago, that I need to finish. I probably should decide if I have a place to display them. lol!

Your sweet mama bird and her babies is a lovely finish, Diann. I saw Jackie, Shadow, Sunny and Gizmo on the news all the way down here, the other day. It has been fascinating to see how quickly the 'babies' have grown.

Your Momma and baby birds stitchery is perfect for a springtime display. I think I have one of the display stands somewhere. I should search it and and make some small pieces to show. I also really like the starburst quilt from yesterday. I've noticed lots of birds singing on my walks now. I turn on the Merlin app, so I can try to learn their songs.

What a beautiful mini-heart display quilt - the perfect theme for Spring. And, such a sweet blue bird in the embroidery basket. I, too, am a big fan of the Big Bear Eagles nest cam!

Hooray for your April finish! it is a cutie!!! isn't it amazing how huge those eagles nests are? Of course, they are big birds; but, still those nests contain substantial building supplies.

I love your cut new heart stitching, perfect for Spring. And I love your new stitching project! I haven't done a lot of hand work or machine work in the last 2.5 weeks. I hope to remedy that in a few days.

Every time I look up from my sewing machine, I see your stitchery, and it makes me smile. You do such lovely work! I've been watching the eagles, too. We have one that flies over our house now and then, and all the songbirds and the squirrels take cover!
