I Like Thursday #433

It's lilac time in Colorado!  That means Spring is really here.  I pass these bushes on my neighborhood walk - they smell so good!

Sometimes I walk in my mom's neighborhood after I visit her.  The other day I came across this beautiful garden.  This is only half of the flowers - it's a big circular garden in the middle of the complex.

I was a lucky winner in the Stay at Home Round Robin QAL!  Kathleen from Kathleen McMusing sent me this amazing fat quarter bundle of Island Batik fabric called Flutter Fields.

See the butterflies?  ⬆️  This is going to be fun to play with!

Last night I went to a favorite event with my book club friends - the annual "Loveland Loves to Read" author talk.  The book this year was Go As a River, by Shelley Read.  She is a Colorado author, and the book is set in the late 1940s up into the 1970s, including when the Gunnison River was dammed up and the valley was flooded to make Blue Mesa Reservoir.  Several small towns were flooded and are at the bottom of the reservoir.  The story centers on a woman who was displaced because of this.  A really good story, and she was a great speaker!

LeeAnna's question of the week is about where we do our computer work/blogging.  I have a Samsung tablet - similar to an iPad, but an Android system, and I use it for everything - reading, blogging, email, watching videos - you name it!  I often am sitting in my comfy chair with my feet up when I am writing my posts, but sometimes (like today!) I am at Starbucks with a favorite coffee beverage in hand.

Have a great Thursday!

I grew up in western NY and lilacs were plentiful. But they don't grow well here in NC. They do smell wonderful!

Our Azalea is just coming into bloom. Don’t you just love spring when everything is just popping with fresh colours?
I wonder what you will make with that beautiful bundle of batiks?

Those lilacs are so lovely and fragrant, I miss them! That is a pretty collection of batiks - thinking fall quilt? Look at you, chillin' out at Starbucks! Your Mom's neighborhood looks very nice. Those gardens are beautiful.

OMG, that batik bundle is gorgeous! I look forward to seeing what you do with it. That looks like a book I would enjoy. My dad caught some tasty trout in the Gunnison (and I got eaten up by mosquitos) when we were at a dude ranch in the '50s. My brother went to band camp out there two successive years; we delivered him one year, and picked him up the other.

No lilac blooms here yet. But the bushes are leafing out , so that’s the first step. Ooh! Pretty fat quarter bundle. Congrats! I would have love to see and listen to Shelly Read. I enjoyed her book a great deal!

Oh! Those batiks! Lucky you! Lilacs won't be blooming here for weeks but I do love their scent.

nice to sit with your coffee at Starbucks and enjoy a relaxing time. What do you think you will do with that stack of fabric that you won - great deal on that! I'm off to Paducah for a couple days to see the quilt show.

Now I have a nice picture to think of when I read your blog posts. You are either comfy in your recliner or someplace fun with a cup of coffee. Congrats on winning the fat quarter bundle, you'll make something really fun with it.

How neat to be at Starbucks writing to us! How cool is that! Lilacs already...I must check out my lone tree and see how it's doing. That fat quarter bundle looks beautiful. How neat too to get to a book reading. All wonderful likes, Diann.

Such a pretty fabric bundle. You'll have fun with that!

Do you have a keyboard that goes with the tablet, or do you type right on the screen?

Woo Hoo and Congratulations on the win, Diann! Beautiful bundle of fabrics. Your lilac bush is so pretty. I bet it smells divine. I am always interested in what others use for blogging . I have never used a tablet before. Have a lovely day. Hugs.

Lilacs are my favorite flowers! I love their smell, but they don't grow down here. We do have tea olives in bloom right now and they have a pretty smell similar to lilacs. Have a great day.

Wow, your lilacs are blooming already. Ours are weeks away from flowering. The daffodils are just finishing up. Nice bundle of batiks, a little different from your usual palette.
