We had a little adventure the other day, and it wasn't even very far away from home. I wanted to go check out a new trail area on the west side of town that has just recently opened up.
It took us down by the Big Thompson river.
And then it curved around toward this big building. What could it be?
It's a winery!
Good thing Mike brought money!
This is the Sweetheart Winery, and has been around in our town for quite a few years now. We had just never been there.
But we'll be back!
LeeAnna's question of the week is about Easter traditions in our families - did we get a new dress and how else did we celebrate? I shared this photo in one of my posts about the Pieces of My Life quilt, but it's such a classic! My mom always sewed new dresses for us three little girls, and here we are, maybe about 1961 or so? They were even matching dresses! And look at the hats!
We, of course, had Easter baskets, and egg hunts, and went to church. I continued all of that with my own kids (well, not the dresses, lol!) until they weren't interested in Easter egg hunts anymore. But I still make some hard boiled eggs every year, so that I can have deviled eggs with Easter dinner!

I always got a new dress, hat, shoes and little white gloves for Easter/spring … and sometimes a new spring raincoat. Those are special memories!
That looks like a very scenic trail, and gosh, it ends at a winery - how convenient! ;) Your Easter looks similar to mine. Daddy always took pictures of Mom, Granny, and me in our Easter finery - always hats plus white gloves - before we went to church. I don't remember much about egg hunts, but we did them for our kids. And like you, deviled eggs are a must!
That is such a wonderful picture! Love it!
Fun Winery find. Guess you should be tucking $$ in your shoe on your walls from now on on. Or make sure Mike has his wallet. My brother has a little place for a cc on his cell phone case. Never without!. LOL. Your photo of you and your sisters is priceless. I have one of our family that is similar. I couldn’t put my fingers on it. But earlier than 1961.
I remember church, easter baskets and the chocolate wrapped eggs hidden around the house. I filled plastic eggs with candies and $ around the house for the kids. I wonder if they want me to do that again this year? I asked about baskets while shopping with Emily, she picked out the candy for them. I still remember finding chocolate eggs hidden into June cause Mom could not remember where she put them all!
that is a neat trail that you found and where it ends up is a neat surprise for you. We used to get new hats it seems - they must have been pretty inexpensive then as we didn't have much money.
What an unexpected surprise! I think I would walk Gracie every single day down that trail! Lol
That was a nice reward after a pretty hike. I love the photo of you and your sisters at Easter.
LOL. You just happened to stumble across a winery. Such a classic Easter photo.
My mom made me an Easter dress too! There was a hat and gloves too which I loved! (The dress and new shoes not so much. . .LOL!) What a reward after your hike!
Your photo is very similar to mine. Mine has 4 daughters all dressed up and carrying Easter baskets. Mom and Grandma are all dressed up, too! Church, a feast, and egg hunting...all good fun!
