Progress on the two QALs:
It's time to make orange peel shapes for the Orange Peel stitch-along at The Crafty Quilter. Julie had a great post last week about different ways to make the orange peel shapes and I chose to make mine with her faced method. You sew the orange peel shape to a piece of fusible interfacing right sides together, snip the interfacing and turn right side out. Pretty easy to construct!
I'm going to make a few each day until I have the 24 I need. I did discover I can get two out of each charm square that I have, so I have plenty to choose from.
Some of my points are better than others.
That's something I'll have to work on!
Sandra posted cutting directions for the Glowing Hearts QAL last week, too. I'm a slow cutter, if you know what I mean, but I'll work my way through them. It's definitely easy to have a jelly roll of strips that just need to be cut to length.
Five hearts are made with the left side grouping,
and four made with the right side strips.
One intentional choice I've made is to use all the same background fabric for the hearts, rather than half dark and half light. I'm hoping I'll be happy with that choice. Here are the two heart "tops" started.
There are nine hearts blocks to make for a small throw quilt - that sounds doable!
Linking up with The Inquiring Quilter for Wednesday Wait Loss.

Love your orange peels, so neatly done. The glowing hearts look interesting!
I wish I had used that method when I made a quilt using that type of shape instead I did a lot of curved piecing and it wasn't always the neatest.
Pretty pieces!
Two really great sew alongs! Your orange peels are looking great! I love the facing method too for simple shapes like these. Your hearts are already glowing! Nine blocks seems very doable. Thanks for sharing on my weekly show and tell, Wednesday Wait Loss.

One quilt just about did me in and here you are...knocking it out of the park with multiple projects. I want to be like you when I grow up LOL. I love the orange peels and fabrics in the hearts are so pretty. Well done, Diann.
I like your colorful orange peel block, Diann!!! So fun in colorful prints with low volume background!
That looks like a good way to do orange peels. O think I did a similar technique several tears ago while doing an Elenor Burns Egg Money Quilts quilt along. Good for you getting Glowing Hearts going. I need one more color to get six for the Nancy Halvorsen collection I had in my stash. Mine will be very soft and feminine.
We returned from my sister's house in TX over the weekend. Now I need to get going on my own orange peels. I have a pattern that uses them in the background and I'm planning on running with that idea. I almost finished the applique portion years ago. 'Tis time! Lol!
Your Orange Peel quilt along is cool! By the time you get the 24 blocks completed, you will have mastered the points!
The Orange Peel blocks are looking good. You've done more on the Glowing Hearts than I have. I still need to cut my fabrics. I like the colors you've picked for the hearts, very pretty.
You are staying busy, busy, busy, Diann with some fabulous projects. Love the yummy fabrics you are using. Happy quilting. Hugs.
