It's cold and snowy here and I like this view out my window. Reminds me to be thankful for my warm house, stocked fridge, and the indoor things I love to do.
This is soup weather, and I really like this vegetable soup we found at Costco. It comes in two containers, so I shared one with a friend.
Another favorite "must have" for me is Sprouts peanut butter. It's just peanuts, freshly ground. You can get creamy or chunky, salted or unsalted. Yum!
In my To-Do Tuesday post I showed a star block I was making for my Stay at Home Round Robin project that I wasn't sure had enough contrast. So yesterday, I pulled out a strip of a Kona solid fabric in a burgundy shade and tried a couple stars made that way. Oh, yes - much better!
It's supposed to be pretty cold today - maybe a high of 20 degrees - so you can find me wrapped up in a quilt, sipping a hot beverage, and visiting the "I Like Thursday" posts over at Not Afraid of Color! See you there!

Oh! I wish we were closer to a Sprouts! That soup looks yummy! It’s definitely soup weather! I do like the burgundy friendship stars for your SAHRR! It’s going to be awesome!
Pretty stars, Diann!!
I like natural peanut butter too, my favorite is Laura Scudder's. I literally eat it by the spoonful. :D I just read a sample of that book, and it looks good, so I'm putting it on my list. You never steer me wrong! We've actually got weather similar to yours - 20 degrees and sleet/snow mix today. A good day for hot soup!
I still don't have time to sew, too many meetings this week I hope to get in some time this weekend, and maybe next week. I almost wish it would snow here so I'd be off the hook! But I am giving the program at two and a presentation at a third for a budget proposal, so I can't skip them. Ugh! Plus, I have a memorial this afternoon for another friend who has passed away. And it is raining.
I have a Sam's not a Costco and have not see that peanut butter - looks good - haven't seen the soup either. Might have to make some soup for lunch though! We have sleet off and on all night - so far have not lost power - change over to snow soon I hope so the sleet will stop - it is on the trees and a little breezy at the moment
I like your SAHRR stars with that burgundy fabric! I just ordered another Krueger book. As close as he lives to us, we've never met him either. Maybe someday! My app tells me it is -10 outside, but feels like -20. So ready for milder weather! Maybe next week.
I need to get to Costco next week, so I'll look for the soup. The solid burgundy in your stars does look better. It's going to snow here straight through tomorrow, up to 12" again. At least it warmed up to the upper 40's yesterday, which melted the icicles and some of the last 12" of snow. I was also able to walk to the library, so I'm stocked up with reading material through this snowy, then cold again, weekend.
Pat
I have a similar view out my window and I don't like it (a lot of it has to do with the temps, the cold)! UGH! I like to be able to get out when I want and can't do it with this stuff. Hopefully will be gone in a couple of days. I love anything and everything William Kent Krueger!!! I've read almost every single book of his (maybe 2 or 3 yet to be read) and he NEVER disappoints!!
Yay for indoor pursuits! Those blocks do pop. Thanks for all the book recommendations - keep 'em coming!
Around here we have Fresh Thyme which is similar to Sprouts. Mom says Sprouts is better. Ha! I have to agree with you that the solid stars should be the way for you to go. Great job!
PS We're getting lots of snow too!
Hurray for fun indoor things to do! I agree, the darker red contrasts a little more in your tiny star! Stay warm and safe!
Oh that peanut butter looks yummy. I like your stars. We aren't terribly cold but we have had about 32 hours of snow straight and wind. But only about 4 inches accumulation total. I took out chicken tortilla soup, soup is the best on cold days!
Hi,
Your yard looks like ours...snow, snow and more snow. I really like your little stars...the red really makes them pop. Peanut Butter is a favorite with me...I like it on bagels, celery, and toast. Your soup looks yummy. Have a great day!
Mmm... peanut butter. I like your little stars!
You did get a lot of snow, Diann. Well it is good stay at home and quilt weather. Your stars are looking fabulous such pretty fabrics. Have a great weekend. Happy quilting.
Snow is so pretty, especially when you don't have to try to get to work in it. The red Friendship Stars do look really good. Enjoy your reading and stitching time.
It is a soupy kinda day. You got soup, Gramma Judy made soup and I made soup too. Hope you stay warm and dry. It is pouring here. I will be working on my aqua/teal scraps till the new Island Batik fabric arrives and then all best are off :-) Happy sewing.
We keep that soup from Costco in stock at home all the time. We love it! I often add some cooked chicken or pork sausage to it. It’s seasonal, so don’t expect to see it after April or so. We love Adams Crunchy peanut butter. Bruce has it every morning with Cost o honey on whole wheat toast. Just the thought makes my mouth water! I am loving the new friendship stars!!
