I Like Thursday #435

My lilies of the valley are blooming!  That is always a treat to see, especially since they are in a part of our yard that I have to specifically go out and check to see what's happening.

They smell so good!

I've shared before that we enjoy playing cribbage at our house.  Mike taught me when we first met, then we taught our kids, and for many years now we've played a daily game of cribbage while we eat dinner.

Lately, we've been playing for money!  😊  The losers put in change equal to the amount of pegging holes that we lose by.  If you are skunked (behind a certain line) you pay double the points.  We've been using that money to treat ourselves to a meal out, or ice cream - something like that.  This last week we had enough to try a new restaurant called Teriyaki Madness.  It's a chain, and just recently opened up here.  We liked it, and will go back!

It's also nice that they sent us some coupons in the mail yesterday!

I love the PBS  show "Call the Midwife" and it is back for Season 14 right now.  It's our "must watch" Sunday night show.

LeeAnna's question of the week is about bicycles because May is National Bicycle Month!  Do I have a bicycle?   Yes!  Do I ride it anymore - not in a long time since I had some trouble with one of my knees a few years back.  Nowadays I get all of my exercise by walking.  We did used to ride our bikes a lot, and Loveland has a great bike path that goes all the way around the city which we really enjoyed.  (It is still a great place for a walk, too!)  Here are our bikes right now - hanging in the garage collecting dust, lol!

Hope you're having a great week!

My grandmother had lily of the valley growing beside her house. Great way to put money aside for dinner out! Our bikes have not been out of the garage yet this year…soon! I love Call the Midwife too but my husband is not a fan…I record it and watch it when he’s out. Gail at the cozy quilter

It's so nice to see all the pretty flowers as it's warmed up. I still ride a bike regularly, but just the exercise bike at the fitness center. You have much less chance of falling off that one!

Our Lily of the Valley are just about to bloom, also! I love them!!! My super gardener friend hates them--she says they're invasive. I say invade away!!! Cute placemats! We biked daily in Japan--it's the best way to get around there. Here in the US we don't own bikes. Like you, we do our exercise on foot!

My Lily of the Valley are ready to bloom. I have them around a tree in the back in the shade. They have filled up the space around that tree. I’m like Nancy. I say, invade away. My dad tried to teach me to play cribbage. My brother plays and we have friends who play over coffee in the mornings. Love seeing your placemats put to use.

I love your family tradition of playing cribbage and for money! Using the funds for a dinner out is a great idea. I used to play cribbage with a neighbor and also when I visited family. My uncle gave me a special set of spilikins once. I need to refresh myself and teach my hubby. We used to ride our bikes a lot but I can't handle the mountain terrain here. We do take them camping sometimes.

I love your lilies of the valley. Some were blooming in my neighborhood recently. No mistaking their pretty smell! Fred & I used to play cribbage a lot too. Someone recently asked me to teach her how to play and, by golly, I can't remember how! Guess I need to make a trip to Loveland! Lol!

What a fun family tradition to play cribbage during dinner time and a treat to go out to eat from the winnings at some point. You brought back fond memories of my grandma and sister playing games at the dinner table. Love your pretty placemats, Diann. Have a wonderful day.

Your Lilies of the Valley are lovely, I can almost smell them. That is amazing that you play cribbage each day - I am impressed. Playing for money really makes it more fun, right? ;)
