It has been a busy week with lots to do for my mom, and I don't have a lot to show for it, so I am celebrating some little things in my I Like Thursday post. Check out more positive posts at Not Afraid of Color!
I like these little orange cherry tomatoes that I'm starting to get from my tomato plant. I thought I had lost this one earlier in the summer, but we transplanted it to a different spot and it survived!
Yum!
I like sewing tiny little bindings on tiny little quilted things. More about this one in my Saturday post!
This week I've been working on the Wooly Ewe embroidery design in the evenings and this section is filled with the basket weave stitch. It's an interesting stitch to do, and tiny, but looks neat!
Of course, when life gets crazy, I'm always happy to have a good book to escape into. Thanks go to Susie from Knitty Quilter for introducing me to a new author! This murder mystery takes place in Tasmania, an island state of Australia, also a new and interesting place to explore.
It has continued to be so enjoyable to have produce out of our garden to eat for meals. Tonight's dinner is BLTs (with tomato from the garden) and a new cucumber salad recipe: Gurkensalat (German Cucumber Salad).
Happy Thursday!

I love those little orange tomatoes. I need to plant some of them next year. Yay for binding!
sometimes all I feel like having is a sandwich for a meal and hubby always wants the full meat and potatoes thing - I get tired of that! Your BLT looks wonderful!
How funny -- I haven't had the chance to read that book yet by Jane Harper but it is on my list. I've enjoyed the other two books by her and yes, I too like being transported to a new land! Your little ewe is adorable!
I have not heard of the basket weave stitch. I had to zoom in to see yours. He is coming along nicely.
I had a hard time seeing the toast in your BLT. LOL. Thanks for thee author suggestion. I need to find some new ones.
Pat
wahhhhh I'm so jealous of your vegetables!!!
Cute little quilty sheep, Diann. LOVE that TURQUOISE plate!!
Hi Diann! That tomato plant is a trouper!! Look how nicely it came back, producing tomatoes like a champion! Your embroidery looks just fab! The ewe looks friendly and pretty. I need to check out that author - Tasmania is intriguing to me. I hope your Mom is doing better and will be able to come home soon. Aren't you so glad you moved her nearby?!! {{Hugs}} ~smile~ Roseanne
We still have a few tomatoes! Still mostly green it may be the end of my tomato harvest! I don’t think I’ve don3 the basket weave stitch! It’s pretty cool!
If you like The Survivors, you might like The Dry by Jane Harper! I read it a few years ago! A very compelling mystery! My book reading has waned lately! Sewing, stitching and blog reading have been my “jam”! I downloaded Libby/overdrive on my new to me phone! But I have yet to download a book! Duh!
Next year the grape tomatoes definitely will go into a planter on the porch. I have been lucky enough to get a few tomatoes. Pretty stitching.
My tomatoes are so prolific this year! Another basket of them on the counter right now just from the last couple of days. The squash all died, but the tomatoes are going gangbusters. I plan some sewing tomorrow, and will be happy to be in the basement with the heat outside.
I do hope your Mom is healing well, Dian. I have Jane's book in the request line at the library so I will be interested in hearing if you like it. I think you are doing so well with the gardening this summer. Love your stitched ewe too!
Nice that you can take time for your mom at this time in life. That sheep embroidery is the cutest!!! Great save on the cherry tomato plant!!!
