Slowly Stitching

I first shared these little hand-pieced blocks a couple weeks ago, and this week finished up turning the 4 patches into diamonds in a square by adding the corner triangles.  I made the eight outside squares first, and then decided how to make the center square so that each of the "connecting" diamonds that are formed where the blocks touch would have one each of the solid colors in it.

Once the center blocks are stitched together, I'm planning to add a solid border and use those leftover mini charms for cornerstones.  The whole piece will be about 20 inches square when completed.

The last few evenings I worked on sewing the blocks together into rows.

You can see what I'll be working on today!

Sometimes you just have to laugh at the weather forecast!

The news guy on our Saturday news just called it, "Weather Whiplash!"

Sharing my Slow Sunday Stitching over at Kathy's Quilts!

Nice touch on that center square! At first I thought you had it turned wrong, but then I understood what you wanted to do. My mother told me about camping in Colorado one fall when they woke up to snow. It happens.

Gosh, the difference in the temperatures from one day to the next is bizarre. Those squares are filled with such pretty delight.

Cute little mini. I did hear that you were going to have some interesting weather! Nothing like a little rollercoaster, eh? Will be interesting to see if it plays out that way, or if the weather pattern shifts!

Lovely blocks! At least you aren't seeing 110-111 the next few days. I think going down to 37 would be a bit too much though!

Such a pretty color combination, just make me smile! Yes the weather is crazy last year we got a very cold snap in October that really did a number on our fig tree I hope this year is not a repeat. Only down to the 50s at night, which will feel good

Cute project! We had to delay our visit to our friend's property near Canon, and now they are forecasting snow in the near future. Brrr, we may not be able to make this trip this year! Boo!!

Our local weatherman talked about your snow forecast possibilities this weekend! I would take a little snow, to tell you the truth. Well, after our boat trip! LOL! Your blocks are really beautiful… So colorful and happy! :)

Isn't it interesting how four patches look completely different when the triangle sides are added! I have a small bunch of four patches languishing in a bag from a project which didn't eventually, maybe I could do something similar with mine?

Yikes. I saw the national weather at some point this weekend and thought, wait Denver was having 100• + temperature and then all of a sudden they are talking about SNOW? And, I thought our weather could change drastically! Hands down, you beat us any day.

Weather whiplash seems to be a frequent occurrence in CO. I remember Leeanna writing about it several times in the past. That's taking a cool down to the extremes. Your little four patch project is really cute.

I love how you got the corner triangles to show all the colors in each junction. Such a sweet little project! Although if the temps are really dropping into the 30s, you might need a bigger quilt :)

it's the Rockies I guess. Utah did the same, but then, our weather can change by 40 to 50 degrees within a day quite often.
Love the hand pieced mini.

That's such a cute little mini. Love the colors and the blocks. Weather wiplash fits I think for the week you've had. We got cooler too, but not like you did.
