To-Do Tuesday #54

Happy Tuesday!  I'm checking in today with my weekly to-do list and linking up with Roseanne and friends for the To-Do Tuesday linky party at Home Sewn By Us.   Hope you had an enjoyable Labor Day holiday and are ready for the week ahead!

I've had fun playing with my red scraps this week and have made progress on everything I had on my to-do list.

Trees for the Rainbow Jungle project:

A start on the HSTs for my red zigzag row:

6 made, 18 more are needed

A backing pieced for this quilt top:

And I put together this small, placemat sized mini quilt, spray basted it to batting and backing, and have it ready to quilt and bind.

This measures about 12 x 16 inches.

So, for the coming week, I'll be continuing on with those same projects!

1.  Make more HSTs for the red zigzag row.

2.  Spray baste the quilt that I made the backing for.

3.  Finish up the quilted placemat.

Sounds doable!

I sure like your reds, wish I could be playing with my red scraps this month!
Your placemat is pretty; what spray baste did you use? I had to throw my can of June Tailor away, it got so clogged and was just awful, so I'm in the market for a different brand.

Sounds like you had a fun and productive week in your scrap bin;) You'll totally nail this weeks goal too.

ever time I see the zigzags I feel I need to make some at least for a border on the next quilt or so

I'm having a fit of Scrap Envy right now -- you have the most fabulous small scale red prints to play with! Isn't it funny how the fabric we are most drawn to purchasing is not always the fabric we most need or want to sew with once we get home?

I'm intrigued by your pieced backing today. I've never pieced a backing from two different fabrics before but I'm thinking of doing it for my baby clam shells quilt. I bought the backing when I bought the other fabrics for this quilt and was thinking that I only needed one 44" wide, 1 1/2 yard length of fabric for my 40" square baby quilt, but that doesn't give me enough clearance to load it on my long arm and keep the side clamps out of the way. I like the way you've used a contrasting solid to separate two pieces of the striped backing fabric and deliberately off-centered it.

Hi Diann! OMG - I love, love, LOVE the red trees. That is going to be the cutest project ever when you put them all together. Of course, I like the zig zags, too. I just noticed that you've been joining in for over a year! WOWEE - that's great. And the placemat came together so quickly! Thanks so much for linking up this week. ~smile~ Roseanne

Your studio is always a frenzy of activity - some large, some small but all of them beautiful. Love the red trees as well as the bright yellow and blue mini.

Gosh your red trees are just great! Good luck on continuing your goals! Do you have a special place for that place mat sized mini! I’ve decided I need a few more places to hang minis and wall hangings. Maybe down the hallway, like in a museum! “giggle”

Everything is just adorable! You will have those two small items done in no time. How'd the weather go for you? Friend's sent a video of their start back to Indiana with the snow falling.
