I Like Thursday #102 - Wandering

When we are on vacation, Mike and I like to wander.  And this week we are wandering through Monterey, California, (and the nearby city of Pacific Grove, too) and enjoying every minute of it!

Portola Redwoods State Park - a lovely quiet spot, way off the beaten path!

Such amazing old trees!

The tide pools in Pacific Grove -

I like tiny treasures!

A few sea stars showed themselves to us.

I loved seeing otters!

And being a good fabric collector, I had to wander through a local quilt shop, Back Porch Fabrics, to see what I could find.

We like visiting John Denver's rock, too.

On October 12, 1997, John Denver's experimental aircraft crashed into the Monterey Bay.  This is a very simple memorial for him.

We really like the Monterey Farmers Market.  Look at these berries!

And they are Yummy!

Everywhere we look, there are huge succulents growing.  I think they are so neat!

The week is going by fast already, but it's not time to go home yet.  We'll enjoy a little more wandering before we have to go!

Happy Thursday!  Join me over at Not Afraid of Color for lots more I Like Thursday posts.

That's a beautiful part of our country. I'll be flying to the Sacramento area tomorrow, possibly the closest you and I will ever be.

How fun! My husband and I took a business trip in that area (back in the 90s), and it really is beautiful. You didn't mention your "traveling hexies". ;)

Hi Diann! Oh my, those berries look fabulous. And so out of season it would seem, but not there! The succulents look a little out of place near the ocean, don't you think? Enjoy the sights and safe travels. Happy Thursday to you! ~smile~ Roseanne

I LOVE tidepooling in pacific grove! We're usually there in the spring and we didn't see any otters this year but have in the past. You guys found such cool stuff- that star fish is awesome. Have a great trip!!

Oh my goodness, I'm in Monterey this week, too!! I sure wish we could meet for a cup of coffee but I'm doing full time caregiving of my Dad and I hardly even have time to check a few blogs, alas. Thanks for sharing your photos to help me feel like I got to see a bit of the natural beauty here. Enjoy the rest of your stay; Monterey is a special place :)
