I Like Thursday #243

Mike and I were in need of a getaway day last Friday, so we plotted out a drive that included a hike, a picnic lunch, a stop at a quilt shop, and a wine tasting at our favorite winery.   There was lots to like!  The only thing we forgot was the camera!  Oops!  So I had to make do with my phone camera, but I did get a few good shots.

Rabbit Mountain Open Space
Boulder County, Colorado

This was a foothills hike, so lots of wide open views (and not much shade!), and uphill all the way!  😉

Beautiful!

Wildflowers, bird sounds, and butterflies.

Tons of these little guys  -  Fritillaries

And these - Spotted Towhees - which we had to identify by their song because they were hidden in the trees.

And a strategically placed bench or two!  👍

Ahhh!

From the quilt shop I brought home a couple yards of Kona Aruba, which is going to help me with an idea I have for the crumb hearts and wonky stars project.  Something like this, maybe?

This could be fun, yes?!

I'm joining in with LeeAnna and friends at Not Afraid of Color for I like Thursday,

So glad you took time for a getaway! I’m going to have to research the song of a Spotted Towhee! He sure is pretty! A quilt shop visit and a winery stop sound like heaven to me! Last but not least, I love your possible quilt on the Kona Aruba! It looks spectacular!

Sounds like my kind of getaway. We have been plotting some day trips as soon as Alex finishes mulching (or runs out of steam). The Aruba is perfect for your little quilt.

We definitely don't have those birds in our area, so special to be greeted by their song. You and I love the same color aqua/teal shades:)

looks like the perfect place - and not busy! All we use anymore for taking photos is our phones - they have such good camera's on them now. You have the perfect area for this kind of day out

I love kona aruba!!! It was fun seeing what you have in your part of the country, your birds are so different and so is your landscape! Hoping you are having a great summer! Thanks for sharing your adventure with us!

What a wonderful day out and about! It certainly included some of my favourite things too. Thanks for sharing it all. I think that lay out for your stars and hearts would be awesome, Diann.

I don't know if I could manage the hike, but the quilt shop and winery would be right up my alley. The most exciting thing I did all week was grocery shop and spread mulch.

What a beautiful place to hike. We really enjoyed hiking when we were there last May. I really like the direction you are going with the crumb hearts and wonk stars. That Aruba is such a fun color.

Sounds like you had a great day! And everything still looks quite green up there. Nice to get out and about for awhile. I'm thinking we should do that soon, too.
