Scrappy Happenings

Since I was finished with all my green sewing for January, and Angela hinted that February's color for the Rainbow Scrap Challenge would be orange, I played with some orange scraps this week.  I don't have a lot of orange in my stash, so I'm going to have to be creative with how I use it this month!

Here are some orange trees for the Rainbow Jungle -

I'm going to keep using the inspiration fabric in the trees until I use it up, so it will be spread throughout the quilt!

And all the trees so far !

Sharing these at SoScrappy for ScrapHappy Saturday!

Meanwhile, I messed around with my crumb blocks some more and decided to enlarge them to 7 x 10.5, and add a 4 x 10.5 strip on one side for a 10 inch finished block.  If you can believe it, I still have some of the gray Grunge left to use up!  This project is going to be the last of it, I swear!

These blocks could go together like this -

Or like this -

Thank you to Cynthia Brunz at Quilting is More fun than Housework for the inspiration for these.  Click on the link to her blog to see the quilt that gave me my idea!

My plan is to make enough of these 10 inch blocks for a small donation quilt!  Sharing at Oh Scrap!

And finally, the binding is machine stitched on to Tiny Tuesday, so hand stitching it down will be my slow stitching project all weekend!

Sharing at Kathy's Quilts for Slow Sunday Stitching!

Have a wonderful weekend, friends!

Your tree jungle is looking great and I like that scrappy block! I just looked at Cynthia's and laughed that she started the quilt because she couldn't close her scrap drawers. :D I need to put my current squirrel aside and work on something orange. Love the peek at the backing of Tiny Tuesday.

The orange jungle trees are a great addition. I really had to dig to find orange as well. The grey grunge sets off your scrap chunks beautifully. Glad you are not out yet.

I have heard others say they do not have a lot of orange either. I need to look and see what I have I haven't started mine yet - I should do that today. I like your trees

Love the trees and that crumb quilt has lots of possibles.... Too funny on not being able to close the doors....I just buy more bins to put them in =(. Time to dig for orange. Happy stitching - binding is so fun to stitch down.

Seems like orange is a bit scarce for everyone. Your little trees are cute!

I love your orange tree blocks, they look really good mixed in with the green (while my mix looked way too sixties retro). You've got some fun scrappy projects in the works, those crumb blocks are going to make a very nice donation quilt.

It is so much fun to see your tree blocks each month (even though we've only had 2 so far!) I'm doing some thinking on crumb blocks too. As always, you are inspiring me!

Rainbow Jungle is the perfect name! It'll be amazing. And your crumb blocks are wonderful. I don't think there is a layout you can go wrong with. As for that grunge...isn't it funny how a fabric seems like it last forever no matter how much you use it?!

(I think at this point that I might have more orange than any other color...)
I adore those trees of yours, and you've got my interest piqued with those crumb blocks - what fun quilts both those will be!

Diann, I think those trees are the cutest! It is just amazing to me how every time I really like something, it's usually a very simple design. Nothing complicated. Funny how that works.
