Strings and Things

The green strings came out to play in my sewing room this week.  First up were these four green string blocks.

I'm making these on rectangular phonebook pages, and trimming them to 9.5 x 6.5 when the sewing is done.  There are four sets so far.

Or maybe I will orient them this way?

I decided it was time to pull off the paper backing and sew the four blocks together into the large rectangle.  I also stay stitched around the outside edge.  This big block measures 12.5 x 18.5.

Some tiny strings made a tiny umbrella!

Aren't these fun?!

And I finished up a Tiny Rails block in Christmas scraps, too!

I'm up to 18 of these 10.5 inch blocks now - not sure where I will stop.  I definitely need at least 20 of them!

March was the perfect month for sewing with green - and now the world outside is greening up, too!  Sharing at SoScrappy for ScrapHappy Saturday.

Your little umbrella is so cute. Seeing all your blocks sashed and displayed together is inspiring.

Your phonebook strings are looking great. I really like the burgundy (maroon, dark red?) touch on them. Did you improv that umbrella? Cute! Your tiny rails are turning into a not-so-tiny quilt. :)

you started the rails last year? and then just carrying them through this year too? that is what I might do for the Panama Pyramid quilt that I started in the greens I didn't think about it until this month so I have no red and yellow ones done

I can't decide which of your blocks I like the best; they are all so wonderful! It's great to see something different with the rectangle string blocks, and your Tiny Tuesday blocks look great, especially with the grey setting fabric. But those Tiny Rails really knock my socks off!

Your TT blocks are looking great! I'm envious you were able to decide on your sashing - I'm still dithering. The Tiny Rail blocks look fantastic!

Strings are such a great way to use up scraps! Stay stitching around the edges sounds like a really good idea. I love how your little penguins are peaking out of your tiny rails bloc!

I am a little behind in my blog reading. Even though we have moved on to aqua, I wanted to let you know I live your green blocks ;)
