I Like Thursday #110 - There and Back Again

Happy Thursday!  Hope you're having a great week!  I'm joining in with LeeAnna at Not Afraid of Color for the weekly celebration of things we've recently liked and want to share.

I liked our road trip to see our kids for Thanksgiving.  It was such a nice day on Thanksgiving afternoon that we went out and walked around the Veterans Memorial in our son's town.

There were sculptures and historical information and all kinds of bricks which families had purchased to honor their veterans.  We even found some Bottrells who had fought in WWII who were commemorated there.  My husband says they would be his grandpa's cousins.

I liked this sight from tiny Goodland, Kansas, which is on the far western end of the state.  No, not the Steak and Shake!

A Tesla plugged into a charging station - the owner was sitting in it and waved at me when I took this picture!  I wonder where they'd come from and were going.

I liked doing a little Small Business Saturday shopping at the quilt shops along our way.

A charm pack of Grunge Paper White, some red yardage for Christmas projects, and a few  fat quarters to add to my stash.

After we got home, I had fun finishing up a tomte house from my #mossandlotustomtesal2018 pattern bundle.

I fussy cut a cat to sit in the doorway.

I have to decide what to do with these fun little blocks.  A wall-hanging, a table-topper?  I'm not sure yet!

I've also enjoyed finishing up another Gail Pan embroidery, which will become a pillow for my mom for Christmas.

These are so fun and satisfying to work on!  Time to trace another one!

Be sure to check out the other I Like Thursday posts at Not Afraid of Color.  It's always fun to see what everyone has been up to!

Do you know when the Veteran's park was added to North Platte I do not remember it being there the last time we stopped. Mike's relatives are no longer there so we camped on the edge of town about 5 years ago on our way to somewhere else and barely drove through town that time and do not remember it. It does seem odd that no one in his family is there any longer.
Love the little "elves"

Hi Diann! What a beautiful Veterans Memorial. It looks so well cared for and clean, with the flag proudly waving. Oh, I love the Tesla charging stations! I would LOVE to own one, especially since I drive 100 miles each day. Imagine no oil changes, just plugging in each night. That would be the car of my dreams. I auditioned the Chevy Bolt but the leg room was so short that it wouldn't be comfortable enough for 2 hours each day. Your Christmas project looks intriguing, and those tome house and blocks are so fun. Happy Happy Thursday to you. ~smile~ Roseanne

What a nice Veterans memorial and such a beautiful blue sky behind it. Ha! I did think you meant the Steak and Shake at first. I like the cat you added to the block. Hope you are having a wonderful Thursday so far.

that was so interesting! I never saw a charging station, wonder how they find them? Great idea. I love your handwork pieces and look at the tidy neat well stitched embroidery! woohooo
I like that there are memorials to appreciate all of the people who risked their lives for me and this country. Glad you had a good visit at Thanksgiving, and I'd have enjoyed all the quilt shops for sure

I'm glad you enjoyed a family Thanksgiving! We have yet to have a Steak 'n Shake near us. Sigh. I didn't think I was a big gnome person, but those tomtes are adorable!. That Gail Pan embroidery is turning out so cute!

I like your block designs. My hands itch to piece something together, but so far I'm more talk than action.

Funny that the Tesla driver waved at you; maybe he's used to having his pic taken? Haha. Sounds like a fun time with family, and you scored some great fabric on your stops too. Can't wait to see what you create with those tomte -- a Christmas apron?? Whatever it is, I'm sure it will be cute!
