I'm celebrating the month of yellow with some daffodils! There aren't any growing in my garden this year, so instead I bought a bouquet at the grocery store earlier this week to bring home. Such pretty yellow!
In the sewing room, my plan for the sixteen patch stars project is to make two every month, for a total of 20 at the end of the year. It was easy to come up with enough yellow for one block, but I wasn't sure what to do for a second one that wasn't exactly the same as the first. Then I saw Nancy's post about her March strippy quilts at Grace and Peace Quilting and had an "aha!" moment - I could pull out my sandy/golds for a second block!
These two piles turned into these blocks:
Here are my sixteen patch stars so far -
Now I need to figure out a second pink star. Maybe this peach/coral group will work? I'll play with them this weekend and see what happens!

I often do a good block on yellow month for the rainbow scrap challenge. Pretty peachy/ coral fabrics. Gail at the cozy quilter
Not good….gold!
You've picked some fun alternatives for those second blocks.
Nice yellows/golds! Sorry you don't have any daffodils, do you think the squirrels got them?
Loving your little stars.
The scrappy star blocks are great in RSC colors! When I pulled out the yellow bin I found a lot of sandy-golds, too. Love the daffs.
Daffodils! I just brought home some, too. I like your star blocks.
Your star blocks are so pretty, Diann. The pinky coral fabrics will be a nice addition.
I haven't cut any daffodils yet - I don't know why I do have plenty growing in my yard. Today we have a yellow dirty type of sky - wind has blown the dust storms from Texas and Oklahoma storms to us.
Ohhh, your colorful scrap blocks are looking great, Diann!!! I'm glad I could inspire you. Love those daffodils! (Even if you bought them.) Ours are not coming up yet here.
Too early for daffodils in the part of the USA. But they are so pretty. My potato chip blocks could use some golds. I thought the same thing when looking at Nancy’s jelly roll race quilts.
That worked out well, Diann! I love those blocks and your pretty bunch of daffodils, too.
Nicely done! It is hard sometimes to get a 2nd block from the RSC color. How did you do during the storms Friday?
I've always admired that block pattern.
Yes to the coral/peach! These remind me of your friendship star blocks with the colored squares that I copied a few years ago! I've used a couple in donation quilts & still have the rest to do something with & they are on my list of WIP's for this year! But now I want to make 16 patch stars!!
Yellow daffodils are so pretty and brightens up any room. We had lots of them at the farm where I grew up. Pretty yellow blocks too. Love your star blocks.
Daffodils are one of my favorite flowers! Great work around the make the two 16 patch stars. :)
Daffodils are so cheerful. Every time I see those 16 patch stars I think I need to make them. Maybe today is the day.
Sunflowers and daffodils. . .are such happy flowers and certainly say yellow to me! Great plan to make the two 16 patches!
Such happy colored blocks! I really like how the stars look just a little off-center in the blocks. So striking.
I like your star blocks. I keep thinking I should start the Rainbow Scrap Challenge and choose one block per color. Maybe one of these days....
I love your peach/coral fabrics. They are beautiful!
I love these blocks, Diann. I cannot wait to see the coral/ peach block- now those are some gorgeous fabrics. I have been drawn to peachy colors here lately for some reason. Hugs.
