I Like Thursday #302

Happy Thursday, friends!  How's everything?  We've just returned home from a lovely week-long getaway to the Oregon coast, and there was so much to like there!  It's definitely one of my favorite places.  Both Mike and I enjoy just wandering and exploring along the coast and we pretty much did that from dawn...

(View out our hotel room window)

until the sun went down.

(A short walk from our hotel out to the sunset view point nearby.)

And every minute in between!

One of the reasons we enjoy the small town of Depoe Bay is because there are gray whales that live in the waters off the bay there for several months every year, and you can see them right from the walkways along the bayfront.  This year we decided to take a whale watching trip out into the bay, and it was everything we had hoped for!  Mike got many great pictures of the whales and I did not get seasick!  😎

There was lots of clam chowder...

Yum!

and beach combing, too.

I even splurged on this pretty fat quarter bundle from one of my favorite quilt shops, Boersma's Sewing Center in McMinnville, Oregon.

It was great to get away, and, of course, it feels good to be home again, too.  I am itching to get to my sewing machine, but there are lots of after-travel chores to do - piles of laundry, figuring out meals, getting groceries (I got so spoiled not having to cook!) - but first I had to join in with "I Like Thursday" at Not Afraid of Color!

LeeAnna was asking if we have a favorite movie that we'll always stop to watch if you come across it while channel surfing.  For me it is just about anything with Tom Hanks in it: Sleepless in Seattle, You've Got Mail, Forrest Gump, Castaway.  I can't even think of all of his movies that I've liked.  I have a big crush on Tom Hanks, lol!  💖

I think Mike might agree with me - he was just watching this one
on the plane ride home yesterday!

Thanks for visiting on I Like Thursday -
have a great day!

Really pretty fat quarter bundle! Great photos of the coast too! Glad you enjoyed your vacation! And BTW, me too regarding Tom Hanks! Even his recent ones, Greyhound in 2020 and Finch in 2021! I’m only going to see Elvis because, you know, Tom Hanks!!

What a beautiful spot for a vacation. We tried a whale watching cruise the last time we went to Oregon. Unfortunately we discovered that I'm prone to sea sickness. Glad you had a very fun experience. Hope you get through all your chores so you can get back to stitching.

I’m a big Tom Hanks fan too. If you listen to audiobooks, he is the reader for Ann Patchett’s “The Dutch House”. Great book and I could listen to his voice all day long!
Sounds like a fun and relaxing vacation. Always good to be home.

I'm a big Tom Hanks fan too I think I love all of his movies. Always to much stuff to do when you get home and get back into your routine and cooking every day again. I'm taking my turn away soon and leave on Saturday and I sure hope I immediately encounter cooler weather as it says I will when I asked about Tennessee where we will spend out first 3 or 4 days.

Welcome home. Beautiful scenery there on the Oregon coast. I second the recommendation of listening to Tom Hanks read the Dutch House.

I was afraid you'd be sad to leave the Oregon coast, but sounds like you've got a lot to keep you busy! Your trip looks wonderful, glad you took that whale watching trip, and not getting seasick is always a bonus. The clam chowder would be my favorite part - lol!

That coast is very popular and beautiful. Looks like you two had a great time. I love Tom too and would be disappointed if I found out he wasn't a nice guy. Lovely fabrics there for future play!

Hi Diann! Oh yes, Tom Hanks is a great actor and worthy of stopping to watch any of his movies. Big is a favorite of mine that you didn't mention - that huge keyboard that actually played music is just so cool. I have never visited Oregon, but you have definitely convinced me that I should and soon. What lovely views from the hotel!! It makes me want to walk on that beach, too, and comb those precious stones and seashells. {{Hugs}} ~smile~ Roseanne

That looks like a wonderful vacation. One day I'll make it to the Northwest corner. We always enjoyed the humpbacks while we lived in Hawaii. Seems to me you've also seen seals thataway too. Now THAT would make me smile. Welcome home!
