I have one more small finish to share for this week. Last week I showed this little embroidery design from Melisa at PinkernPunkin Quilting, and it didn't take long to finish up. At Melisa's link there, it shows that she surrounded her embroidery with a churn dash block, so I thought I would do something similar.
I did a little machine quilting and a little hand quilting on this one just for fun!
The backing and binding are a pretty floral scrap leftover from my "Follow the Garden Path" quilt. I just love this print!
This little mini is hanging on my fridge now (birdie side out!)
for a summer decoration.
So, what to work on next? I should trace another embroidery design, because it's always nice to have that ready for some slow stitching. As soon as we know the Rainbow Scrap Challenge color for July, I'll prep some plus blocks to hand-piece, too.
But recently I was the lucky recipient of a package from Mari because of Hands2Help and it has me wanting to try something new!
Thank you, Mari!
Here I've zoomed in on the yarn:
This is 100% Cotton Chunky Thread by Lori Holt of Bee in My Bonnet.
When I googled it, I saw tutorials for crocheting with it, so I got myself the size crochet hook that's listed on the label. I crocheted a tiny bit many years ago - do you think it will come back to me? Off to search YouTube!
Meanwhile, I'm keeping my yarn and crochet hook in this adorable zipper pouch that I also won recently for participating in From My Carolina Home's Stashbuster Challenge this year. Thanks, Carole!

The Churn Dash border is the perfect frame for your sweet birdie embroidery. I remember the backing fabric.....still love it! Hope to see some crochet next time. =) Love those colours of the yarn.

That is a cute little finish. When ever I pick up my crochet after a gap I use YouTube as a reminder! Have fun playing.
How cute, framing the stitching with a churn dash! I love it. Will be fun to see what you create with your H2H goodies!
Adorable little birdie you made! Pretty yarns and there are so many great tutorials out there for crochet, I'm sure it will come back to you.

Hi,
Love the Churn Dash block...so pretty! I'm doing a

Looking forward to seeing what you will crochet. Enjoy your gifts.
Those little birdies are happily feasting on that sweet watermelon. You had good progress this past week!
Such a lovely mini... congrats on the finish!
I wonder what the yarn will become!?!?
Congrats on those two wins! I am sure the crocheting will come back to you in no time. I love that sweet little bird quilt. Have a great week!
What a fun gift! It will come back. And I love your new decoration!!
The birdie embroidery turned out so cute! I love that backing too, so fresh looking. I'll be curious to see what you do with the yarn. I've got some yarn very similar to them that I won a while ago and never did anything with. I'll be watching! Ha!
