Merry Christmas from the Little Penguin house!
I finished up my December Table Scraps project just in time to decorate our table for Christmas dinner.
I wanted to try the braided style of runner after finding this tutorial at Samelia's Mum, and I had a lot of fun cutting and rearranging the 2.5 inch strips to alternate prints and lights and darks. My only disappointment was that I couldn't make this longer (it measures about 12 x 26) because I actually ran out of scraps! Can you believe that?
The strips with red trees are even pieced together
to make a strip that was long enough!
The backing is made out of a few wider strips of this peppermint candy print that I've been trying to use up forever! Same with the red and white striped binding.
I had to laugh when I was working on the hand quilting of my Scrappy Trip Around the Rainbow quilt last night. Look what block I was on!
Speaking of this quilt, I'm pushing really hard to have a 2021 Rainbow Scrap Challenge project finished in 2021. Think I can do it?
The top right to bottom left lines of quilting are just about done.
Now to add the rest of the top left to bottom right quilting.
Getting there!

Your braided table runner is beautiful, Diann. As is your trip around the world quilt. I bet you will done it before the year is finished.
Merry Christmas to you and your loved ones.
Had quilting the trip. You go girl ! I love that scrappy trip. The braided runner is special too.
I really like that quilt!
It is too funny that the peppermints and stripes showed up in both the projects you were working on. Merry Christmas.

Such a cute table runner, and just in time for Christmas! I'm sure you can get your RSC done in 2021!
Very pretty! That backing is pretty awesome, too!
It's a sweet finish!!! And so glad you got to spend time with your guys, enjoy your reading.
Awesome timing on your December 2021 TABLE SCRAPS Challenge entry finish, Diann!! Best of luck on that RSC quilt. You CAN do it!!!
Your runner turned out great! I know you can get a finish on that quilt in 2021! Stitch like the wind! Merry Christmas.
Your braid table runner is so cute. It turned out well. I find that scraps end up in various projects too. I had a favorite orange that I thought was all gone. But I'd cut some into a"scrap saver" size and found it again for a current project. Scraps just keep on giving!!
Have a great weekend. We have lovely snow!
A very Merry Christmas, Diann. Your table runner is fabulous and so cheerful. It sure looks like it was a fun project and a great use of festive scraps. Your RSC quilt is so beautiful. You go , girl. You got this. I am cheering you on for a 2021 finish!!! Happy quilting.
You got this. You can get one more finish in Diann. Your RSC project is a great choice for a rainbow quilt. Love your little table topper. I'm going to try to finish my table topper. It's tiny... Let's see if I can finish mine as well. Wishing you and yours a happy and healthy 2022.
Oh! The rainbow quilt is so pretty!
That peppermint fabric is perfect for you runner back. Nice to have the runner done in time to use at Christmas. The RSC quilt is sure to be done by the end of the year! What are you going to make for next year’s challenge?
Love your little table runner. Love the fact that it is Christmasy without being red and green. So refreshing. I had a chuckle too when I saw the same fabric in both your projects. Maybe these fabrics just don't want to say bye-bye? Lol. Good luck with the race against the clock. I'm sure you will win and have a lovely quilt done before the clock strikes midnight. Enjoy! ;^)
Cute runners!!
Love your scrappy trip!! peppermints and all!! ;)
Both are lovely projects. Congratulations on the almost finished RSC. I'll bet you'll make it by the end of the year.
Lovely projects, both of them. I discovered this year, I need to start making myself some table runners, instead of gifting everything away! Happy Stitching and Happy New Year!
You can do it Diann. I think I have finished all of the quilts I am going to this year. So I am rooting you on!
Thanks for linking up your lovely runner with Oh Scrap! How can you run out of scraps :)
You can do it, you're so close! I'm hoping to try to get back to my RSC projects but I guarantee NONE will finish in 2021, Lol!
I really like your braided runner. I'm glad that you were able to run out of scraps for the project. It seems like I create about as many as I use! Your RSC for 2021 is so close to a finish. . YES, I think you can do it!!!
Your braided table runner is so pretty! Love those colors! And your Trip Around the World is so very colorful! Love it!
I love that table runner, and my favorite thing on it is that tree fabric - so pretty! Love the peppermint candy backing too, and LOL that's what you ended up working on in your scrappy trip. ;) So impressed your pretty RSC quilt is almost finished!
Love the braided runner! Your Trip Around the World quilt looks great, too. Fingers crossed for your finish!
