Monday's view out the front window:
Wednesday's view:
Some white stuff! It's been a verrrry long time since we've had any moisture.
This was icy pellets - like the weather gods couldn't decide if we would get rain, snow, or some combination of the two. But it's wet, so that's a good thing!
I loved seeing Mike zooming with his longtime buddies that he served in the Navy with. Zoom has been a great thing for them in this last year and a half. They (and wives) have been getting together in various places around the country every two years, but this has enabled them to see and visit with each other every two months.
We are (fingers crossed!) planning the next reunion for Boston in May of 2022.
It was supposed to have happened in May of 2020, but you know what happened to that one...
One of my favorite times of the day is the evening after dinner when Mike and I settle down to stream a show or two. Our latest favorite is "Bosch" on Amazon Prime. I've read all the Harry Bosch novels by Michael Connelly, so am liking the series, even though it's been updated a bit from the time period of the first few novels.
Full Disclosure - there's bad language in this show,
so I don't recommend it for everyone.
Last night (while watching) I got started stitching the ice-skating Frosty. He might be my favorite Frosty so far! I decided to do the holly leaves in green, just for a fun contrast.
Have you seen, or maybe even made, a 10 Minute Tablerunner? I didn't make this one - it was a gift from a friend the other day. She did say it wasn't 10 minutes to make it - more like an hour! It doesn't have any batting, or really any quilting either. I love the main fabric with the cardinals in it. I noticed that if you Google it, there are lots of video tutorials on how to make them
And one more thing to share - this week's book. Last week I was all about the holiday stories, and I have several in a pile, ready to read. But then... I got a note from the library that my copy of the latest Inspector Gamache mystery by Louise Penny. Yippee! It's a good one, too!
This will probably be my last post until next To-Do Tuesday. My kids will be here for a long weekend tomorrow through Monday, and we'll be busy. I like that a lot! Back soon, though!

It's definitely been a weird weather year. Everything was brown in Seattle in September. They hadn't had any measurable rain in months. We've had some gorgeous sunrises and sunsets lately, too. Think I'll try that table runner. Have fun with your family this weekend.
Zoom has allowed many get togethers over the last couple years that couldn't have happened otherwise. Such a wonderful thing!!
I read this fun post last night, and just as I had finished commenting, we lost power. Our weather has gone from snow, to balmy temps, to high winds, to very cold and ice. Anyway, fun to see Mike enjoying Zoom time with his friends. I like your skating Frosty, too. I enjoyed the LP book, and I seriously would like to make a quilt like the book cover. I have made one of those little table runners; it's a quick one.
I loved the Bosch series - it is a little different than the books but not a lot - I didn't quite picture this guy as Bosch but he grew on me and by the end of the first season he was perfect for the part.
I never did get into Zoom and I don't think any of my family does either none of them mention it - we all tried it last year (my siblings) but after one Zoom session no one seemed to want to do it again.
It is a busy time, and family visiting makes it fun. Have a great weekend! Merry Christmas!
That last book has a fantastic cover - quilty inspiration, maybe? Hope you have a fun time with your kids. Wishing you and yours a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.
I traced frosty and will stitch on the road-Oh it's Thursday she should have another! We have watched all of Bosch. Now we are into Bones, Burn, and Suits all on Prime. Have you others in Prime to recommend?
I haven't heard of Bosch but will check it out. I love that you're stitching a sweet snowman while watching something intense!
Yea for Mike! His bond with his longtime friends is enviable
So glad Mike has been able to Zoom with his buddies. We have a weekly zoom with our daughter and granddaughter and great grands in Florida. The kids love it! We watched Bosch too! Enjoyed it a lot! Enjoy your “special weekend before Christmas “!
Beautiful pictures from your window!!
I like the new frosty with green leaves.
Hope you have a wonderful long weekend with kids, Diann!
Ooh - love the change in view. Amazing. Zoom isn't the same as in person - but it has been a serious godsend. I didn't realize Bosch was books. Figures - all of the really good shows are based on books. Oooh - I've got like 10 books in my reading list... but The Madness of Crowds will definitely be read early in 2022! :-)
Wonderful items to be pleased with!!
Yes, moisture is a good thing! Veterans talking together is extraordinarily helpful! Thank God for Zoom! I attended some reunions with Daddy and…well it was an emotionally heartwarming event that affected us deeply. A special time indeed.
Bosch is indeed a great series, though the language isn’t necessary. It would be fine – even better without it. 😊
Quick question re: the Frosty snowmen – does the red floss bleed? I so love red work and I’m wanting to turn these blocks into a quilt. What are your thoughts?
Those 10-minute runners were one of my first sewing projects – yours is lovely!
I’m going to have to check out Penny’s books! Thank you for the recommendation!
Merry Christmas!
Great likes! I just love that you got some kind of precipitation!!! So nice that Mike could visit safely with his friends on Zoom! I love your Frosty block and think the green is perfect for the holly! Have a great weekend!
Glad you all got a little moisture FINALLY! It even made the weather news around my neck of the woods. Fred's military group meets every 2 years also. We've been supposed to meet in New Orleans since spring of 2020. We're scheduled (actually rescheduled for the 4th time) for March 2022. We'll see ...
As for the 10-minute table runner, I make a much smaller version. I got the measurements from my LQS in a mini-kit. It's the little topper that I change out on the back of my toilet. Fits perfectly! I made my mother a matching one this Christmas.
Enjoy your visit with your kids. I probably won't be posting until New Year but I'll be reading my friends' posts. Have a good Christmas!
Enjoy every minute with the kids!
We are enjoying Titus' performance in Deadwood and also enjoyed Bosch too. I enjoyed seeing your embroidery on the go and imagine a 10 minute runner. It would take me more time than that to just cut the fabric.
Perfect morning photo and how wonderful for Mike to be zooming with old pals. Tony meets his old business cronies every week for coffee and enjoys it very much.
I am going to have to try Bosch! Thanks for the recommendation! and your Sunrise! awesome!! I wish you would have sent the snow to me haha! I got the wind *sigh*
