Inspired by these pretty marigolds in my front garden, I decided to play with orange this week.
I pulled out the crumb box and a few larger chunks to see what I had.
In the crumb box, I found these, not even sure what I originally made them for.
I wondered if they would work for a crumb heart.
And they did!
Here is the rainbow of crumb hearts and wonky stars up on the design wall. You can see my idea for sashing and cornerstones in the first few blocks at the top. It looks like I still need a few more hearts and stars to make this quilt a little bigger.
I also cut out the 36 squares needed for a Scrappy Trips block.
And that has been my evening hand stitching all week. Making good progress, too!

Quilting is more fun than Housework
Is orange this month's color? I like what you are doing.
Hi Diann, it seems like we were connected during the week, I also decided to go with the orange color and to start I also made hearts for my mini block collection.
I loved seeing your plans for the Hearts and Wonky Stars quilt. It is looking beautiful so far.
I was thinking of playing with orange as well. Your blocks are looking great.
I think in Angela's absence a lot of us have decided to do orange this month, I got my orange out to look yesterday and will get started on it tomorrow I think.
Looks like your marigolds are flourishing - you must be doing something right. I like your sashing and cornerstone idea. The orange makes a pretty Scrappy Trips!
all you RSC projects are advancing nicely! great work!!
I guessed orange or light/bright green, but haven't started sewing. LOVE what you are doing with your RSC quilt, Diann!
I started with orange this month, too - Love the design wall blocks
Those crumbs made for a great heart, they had just been waiting for you to discover that, LOL.
I love those crumb hearts! They look great interspersed with the stars!
Great progress on your hearts and stars. Great fall flair.
I chose to work with orange too for the star of the new month!
Love the marigolds! I'm not a big fan of orange, but those little hearts could change my mind. Happy September!
Those hearts and stars blocks make a PERFECT pairing!! So cute already. I was hoping for orange, as I had some pulled out for a different project. LOL
Great inspiration there! Thank you !
wow you captured the marigolds!!!!
Oranges are pretty!
I enjoy seeing your scrappy progress, and you know I love those oranges! The hearts and wonky stars quilt is looking great!
Good guess on this month's color and looks like you weren't the only one to jump start with orange. Angela did make if it official with a paragraph I think she added added so many comments asking what the color was.
Love the "recycled" heart! And the fabrics for your scrappy trips block are perfect, inspired by your beautiful marigolds.
I'm not a huge fan of orange, but I do love the heart block. Your RSC projects are both lovely!
Orange in the garden and orange fabrics; so cheery and bright. Love that orange heart and the sashing fabric for the crumb hearts and wonky stars quilt is perfect. The colour aqua is a perfect choice.
That crumb quilt is going to be amazing. Watching your progress week after week has been a treat to my eyes!
Orange is so bright and cheerful. A perfect colour for some fall sewing. Nice scraps!
Love those wonky hearts, particularly the orange one! Hope you have a great week!
You have a lot of pretty orange fabric scraps. I love that crumb heart!
It looks like you have been having sew much fun with those chunky bits of oranges and yellows. Love that heart!!! And what a fabulous quilt in your previous post. You are making me want to run to my quilt room and play with my fabrics. Thank you for the inspiration. Happy quilting.
Thanks for sharing all your pretty blocks with oh Scrap! I need to get out my orange and start sewing.
I like your orange play. I love fall but it usually isn't a color I buy. Funny huh
You got a great start on orange month! I enjoy seeing the squares in your hand pieced blocks... that is such a special project!
Your orange blocks look so good. Hum, I wonder what my orange scraps look like. Must take a look at them soon. The month is zooming by, or so it seems.
