Not long ago I finished up a small tablerunner made from the Quilt As You Go hexagons that I made during November. Each hexie was sewn separately with a front, batting, and backing, and then after I decided on a layout, I sewed them together with the ladder stitch.
The ladder stitch worked perfectly for connecting all the hexies, even when they had different color backings! Here's the back side.
Then, needing some more hand-piecing to do, I cut a bunch of 2.5 inch squares of pink and white, and stitched up a (twelve inch finished) 36 patch block with a white center section. I think I'll make two of these in the Rainbow Scrap Challenge color of the month throughout this year.
The lighting on my cutting table always turns everything yellowish, but the white squares really are a pretty white on white with little stars.
One more set of pink squares is ready to go and that's what I'll be working on today for Slow Sunday Stitching. Joining in with all the stitchers at Kathy's Quilts.

LOVE those pink squares! AND...as for the hexies, they are fabulous, too. Such a delightful table runner.
Now who would have thought there'd be penguins in a pink block? Lol!
Those QAYG hexies turned out so nice! I put mine away after machine stitching them and not liking that result. I found the bag of them yesterday and put them out in the open to remind me to try again but hand-stitch them this time.
That pink square is really pretty. I wasn't going to join in RSC this year but changed my mind after reading Angela's blog - lol!
the hexies turned out beautifully--nice work!!
I love your little pink/white hand sewn squares--what a nice soothing project...hugs, Julierose
Sweet hexies! I like the way you arranged them.
your small hexie table topper turned out wonderful - I love the layout and how you stitched them together. The new patchwork looks great too
Love how your hexie table runner turned out! The new hand piecing project looks like a fun one and very doable with 2 a month.
I like your Hexagon table runner/mat. It is very effective. I am tempted to try yet another project!
some of the ladies in our quilting group were making the hexies for Christmas - it looked fun. Gotta love the penguins
I am seeing a lot of those quilt as you go hexies. What a fun project to carry along.
Congrats on your finish and enjoy that new hand pieced project!
Your hexie mini turned out so cheerful and fun. Those pink blocks are pretty cheerful too! Lots of sunshine in your quilting room!
The hexies are fabulous! And you’re off to a good start with the RSC 2021 challenge!
You are doing a perfect hand sewing. The pink block is beautiful.
You rock Diann!!!
Always nice to see what you are working on, two great projects on show this time.
Ooh - I like the colors of these hexies! Very cheerful.
Love those hexies, and those pink squares are beautiful together! Happy Stitching and Happy New Year!
You have definitely mastered hand piecing and the hexie mini looks perfect. I always use ladder stitch to hand sew my binding down, but I struggle using it for EPP. Winter indoor lighting is very frustrating. I took the picture of my mystery mini quilt out on the deck during a brief respite in the drizzle, but you didn't want to linger too long.

Is that EPP or a tutorial by MSQC? Love the penguins :-)
