After the Christmas busy-ness subsided, I got back to work on this project, and made several similar blocks of various sizes, and ended up making them into a mini quilt for my table.
I decided to stop at a mini for several reasons, but mostly because there are so many seams in this little piece, and it is stretchy! I just wasn't interested in struggling with anything much bigger than this (about 16 x 20), although I know other quilters do!
I quilted it with randomly spaced, diagonal straight lines, criss-crossing every which way from top to bottom, using my carefully hoarded spool of Aurifil Jade. (Thank you, Cyndy!)
A view of the back. And then out in the snow, just for fun!
And because the 2 inch strips of this fabric were still out, I made a couple new coasters for us that match. We can always use new quilted coasters!
I really love these colors - they are definitely a refreshing combination that I'll enjoy using going into the new year, and January!
Sharing at Quilting is More Fun than Housework for Oh Scrap. Have a fun, safe, and happy New Year, friends!
sometimes making something small is rewarding too and it turned out really great. Happy New Year to you
This is gorgeous! Just the color burst I needed after the holidays!
Making small is good, you get it done right away! I love how it turned out. If you keep showing us improv I might just have to jump in, LOL
Sewing like this is so much fun! The bonus is using up some leftover fabrics to have something usable so quickly! Your easy quilting is perfect and just what this table topper wanted...Happy New Year!
Love the colors they are so bright and cheery. Urging winter to move through quickly.
What a fun project!! Wonderful addition to your table. Enjoy!
Happy New Year Diann. The thread color was perfect and I love how you quilted it. It really works with the design. Thanks for your support of Oh Scrap! I always love to see you there each week.
What bright and happy coasters, they go perfectly with your tiny table quilt. Such a great way to play with fabric and turn out a finished project in short order.
Congrats on a beautiful finish. I love the colors and the quilting accents the piece so beautifully.
Beautiful modern finish! I really like that color combo too. Your subscribe by e-mail gadget worked perfectly!!
