Hoppy Easter!

Wishing you a lovely day!

I've been working on this little bunny in the garden all week.  There's still lots more to stitch, so that will be my slow-stitching for today, after we visit (remotely) with our kids and both moms.

A couple weeks ago I shared my embroidered bicycle which I have since finished off into a very simple pouch.  I started with a 7.5 x 21ish rectangle that included the bicycle design, plus additional fabric, batting, and backing.

Once the layers were quilted -

the whole thing was folded into thirds to make an inner pocket.  A binding was sewn all the way around to finish off the edges.

Here's how it looks all finished!  About 7.5 x 7.5 when all folded.

I can see myself using this little pouch to stick a few
sewing things in when I'm traveling again... someday!

Rainbow Jungle in Light Blue

It was fun to hunt around for light blue fabrics in my stash this week, finding the perfect pairs to make some trees for my Rainbow Scrap Challenge project.

How about some penguins in the jungle?

It is a Little Penguin quilt after all! 🐧🐧🐧

Maybe an owl or two?

This next pair might be a bit of a stretch - envelopes in the jungle?  Maybe people there still need snail mail, lol!

At least these envelopes have some light blue in them!

I finished up the eight I need for the month with this pretty combination.

The dark blue fabric actually has some light blue blooms in it,
but I don't think they are visible in this photo.

And here are all the trees I've made so far, grouped by color!

I Like Thursday #180 - Thankful

Happy Thursday, friends!  I'm thankful for all of you, and want to especially thank you for sending so much love, good thoughts, and prayers for my husband, Mike, during his surgery last week.

So, while navigating the healing process as best we can, I've been...

Watching, on Netflix -

"The English Game"
about English football teams in the later 1800s, the divide between the "gentlemen" and the working men, and how professional players came to be a part of the sport.

And also in the midst of this one right now -

"Atypical"
is about a teenager who is on the autism spectrum and navigating high school.  Keir Gilchrist, the actor who plays Sam, the main character, is just excellent.  Although he is not autistic, several other characters are played by actors who are on the spectrum.

Sam is obsessed with Antarctica and penguins, so of course I love him!

Stitching - a cute bunny in a garden -

This little design is from one of my Gail Pan books.  She stitched the bunny in green and all of the growing things in red, but I'm changing it into lots of Spring colors instead!

Reading -

It was a good escape for me - a romance with some depth to it!

Enjoying some nice Spring weather, too!  I love the new rainbow spinner we got for the garden.

Hope you're having a good week!

To-Do Tuesday #32

What a week, you guys!  How are you doing?  My hubby and I have gotten through his surgery, and he is now home and doing really well.  Even though I didn't blog about that until Thursday last week, that was my biggest To-Do to get through!

While at home, I did finish my Super Scrappy baby quilt!

All it needs is a trip through the washer and dryer, and a label, and
it will be ready to donate to Jack's Basket during the Hands2Help quilt event.

I also played with some new blocks I hadn't tried before.  These are the Magic Stars, shared by Joy of The Joyful Quilter.

Inspired by this piece of fabric, I pulled other blues, yellows, and reds, and made a few blocks, just for fun!

(It's actually navy blue, not black.)

So, this week...

1.  Decide what to do with the Magic Circle blocks.  Maybe just finish into a tablerunner.

2.  Get started on April blocks in light blue for the Rainbow Scrap Challenge.

3.  Maybe some house projects?  There are certainly drawers and cupboards that could stand to be cleaned out.  I might read a book instead, lol!

Hope your week is getting off to a great start!

Book Club QAL Week 3

Having already stitched up the Louisa block during Week 2 of the quilt along...

this week I went on ahead to Penelope!

Top right corner!

I'm thinking we'll learn a little more about Penelope very soon!  Meanwhile, I'm going to get started on Cathy.

Super Scrappy

It turns out, with my husband in the hospital Thursday and Friday for some surgery***, I had some time to work on this little baby quilt full of crumb blocks I made throughout 2019.

Here's what you do while waiting for news about that husband -

Binding to sew on, cup of coffee, tablet streaming NCIS on Netflix, and phone at the ready for a text or video chat.

More cute cats to add to my cats on fabric collection!

These guys just make me smile!  And they make the perfect backing for this scrappy quilt.

And to celebrate a new color for the Rainbow Scrap Challenge for the month of April, here's the light blue block in Super Scrappy Baby!

Hand stitching the binding will be my slow stitching project for the weekend!

***And thank you, to everyone, for your kind thoughts for my hubby!  He is doing great, and even came home a day earlier than expected.  I'm so glad to have him home!***

Thursday Thoughts

Good morning, friends!

I'm doing a little bit different type of post this morning because I need you to send up your prayers and good thoughts for my husband, Mike, today.

A favorite picnic spot - Ecola State Park, Cannon Beach, Oregon.

He was diagnosed with cancer a few weeks ago, and today he is having surgery.  Anxiety - producing in the best of times, but you can just imagine how we are feeling in these crazy times.

Mike loves golf!

Once he has healed from surgery, there will be additional treatment, but the doctor feels Mike's prognosis is good, and I'm focusing on that!

One of these days, when all of life gets back to normal,
we will be walking on our favorite beach again.

Hopefully, Mike will be back home by Saturday and on the road to recovery.  Meanwhile, you'll understand if I'm absent from blogland for awhile.   Thanks for your friendship and your good thoughts and prayers.  It's so appreciated!
