Little Penguin Quilts Through the Year

Little Penguin Quilts Through the Year

Working on a finish...

I have been determined not to let January go by without pulling an older UFO out of the to-be-quilted closet and moving it forward.  This is Masala Box, a design by Sew Preeti Quilts, on my design wall in November of 2022.  I purchased Preeti's pattern in January of 2022 and made two blocks every month for the Rainbow Scrap Challenge.

I love this design and was happy with the look of it as a rainbow quilt, so can not tell you why I've let it sit unfinished for so long.   But not anymore!  I have stocked up on batting and backing yardage, and last Sunday I got it layered, spray basted, and ready to quilt!

Stitching along, horizontal lines first.

It's fun to look at the scrap pieces as they move on by.  There are lots of penguins in this quilt!

And because January is the month of pink for the RSC - here's a favorite block.

Penguins on pink!

I remember when you made these blocks! Definitely time to get it made into a finished quilt! Very appropriate quilting! Gail at the cozy quilter.

Shame on you for waiting so long! My Masala Box quilt hangs in the Devo sewing room and I get to enjoy it (and think of you) every time I go to sew.

Doesn't it feel good to get going on a UFO! This is a pretty one with all those colors and of course - penguins. :)

A beautiful quilt top to pull out and finish. Looks like you've gotten a good start on that.

That is going to be a great finish. I bet you will be done soon!

I think after awhile we wonder why we folded up something and put it aside only to pull it out several years or more later and wonder why we waited! I am going to try to keep going through some of my project boxes and make some finishes this year from old projects. That is a good one you are working on. I might have to try to start machine quilting some of the smaller quilts this year.

A simple design. Using the rainbow colors gives makes it come alive.

Yippee! I loved those blocks when you were making them & they look great as you quilt them. 2025 goal for me is also to get an old WIP done each month. So far I'm on track but it's only one month in to the year!

Oh Diann! Those blocks have become a beautiful flimsy. Happy to see you quilting it. Are you using a Pfaff?

It's always a good feeling to get an older quilt heading to the finish line. But its not really that old, just a couple of years.
