Good morning! It's the time of year for pretty sunrises as seen out our front window. This one was prettier just before I went to get my phone to take the picture, but I appreciated it anyway.
Honest neighborhood view - it was trash day!
The sort-of-secret Christmas project is all finished and ready to be gifted at this afternoon's get together. We do one of those crazy gift exchanges where there is stealing allowed, and it's always hilarious! Plus you never quite know what you will end up coming home with.
This is the Cookie Plate Crumb Catcher from The Crafty Quilter.
I decided it needed a cookie plate to go with!
It's a bonus week for my group get togethers because my book club met, too. We always try to choose a book for December that is an easy read because we just need peace and love this time of year, if you know what I mean! This year's book fit that desire perfectly.
Younger son wanted to try making crepes over the weekend, and he did a great job with them!
We made one dinner with them - inspired by a meal we had at a restaurant in California called the Crepevine. Then we also had them for dessert one night with bananas, Nutella, and whipped cream. Yum!
Speaking of dessert, LeeAnna's question of the week is about our favorite Christmas cookie - and mine always is the traditional cut-out sugar cookies, decorated with frosting and sprinkles. I haven't made any yet this year, but probably will the week of Christmas. This picture is from a few years ago. Sometimes I get lazy and just do drop cookies instead of rolling them out and using the cookie cutters. But they're still tasty!
Hope you're having a great week!

The same thing happened to me trying to get a photo of the sunset the other day, I was almost too late. I get it about the trash cans - I'll have to crop out our sagging fence in our photos. ;) Your cookie plate is so cute! The gift exchange sounds like fun, I used to have a blast doing that. Your cookies look delicious. My husband likes them with icing, but I prefer them plain, and sometimes I just take a ball and press it with a glass dipped in sugar instead of rolling them.
We have gorgeous sunrises here over the lake, but I'm rarely close enough to my phone to capture the beauty in time.
I love your cookie catcher and the plate that goes with it. Sunsets are beautiful - I almost always have my phone in my pocket so I can get photos
Those crepes look so tasty! Yum!
We had a glorious sunrise yesterday, I captured it and hope to post tomorrow. I haven't made sugar cookie cutouts for years but I have a tasty recipe for them. Your secret project turned out great.
I like the idea of a cookie plate crumb catcher! I’ve never been successful at sugar cookies. I’m better at chocolate chip, or peanut butter cookies. I’ve been known to be lazy and bake the batch of cookie dough in a bar pan. 😊
Pretty sunrise, I missed the trash cans until you mentioned them LOL. Crepes are my favorite, savory or sweet. I love all kinds of Christmas cookies....can't select a favorite.
Yankee swap! A friend of mine used to hold a Reject Party where the gifts were some pretty wacky stuff. Mom used to make sugar cookies every December - I need to do those one of these years. :-)
I hope you had a great time at your get together and that your gift was loved because it was stolen several times!!!
It's also frustrating how quickly the sunrise changes, by the time you notice it and get your camera, you often miss the best parts. My Mom's sugar cookies are one of my favorites too. I'm hoping she's up to make a few this year. They are Grad Girl's favorite too.
