Little Penguin Quilts Through the Year

Little Penguin Quilts Through the Year

I bought myself a Christmas present...

and it's one of these - a tabletop mini quilt hangar.

I've wanted one for a long time, and especially this year, since I've been working on the Year of Hearts embroidery project.  Yesterday I finished the December heart, so I've ended up with thirteen of them, because I stitched one of the bonus blocks that Melisa shared last summer.

All along I have been pretty sure that I didn't want to sew these into a larger quilt because that type of quilt wouldn't get used around here.  But a monthly mini would be a lot of fun to display and change out frequently.  So here's how it would look:

Each heart would get a two inch border and
then finished with quilting and binding and a sleeve on the back for hanging.
I thought this Fair Isle sweater print would be fun for the December mittens!

I should get started finishing the January heart so it's ready to hang when we get there - we're halfway through December already!  But meanwhile for today's slow stitching, I'll be back to the Ole Crow Saltbox house that I started a few weeks ago.  There are plenty of stitches left for this one!

What a fun way to display your embroidered hearts! Now, one of your monthly goals will be to finish the next month’s heart off. Nice to see your salt box house getting some attention. Gail at the cozy quilter

Where did you find the hanger? Do they come in different sizes?

LOVE your Christmas heart hanging!! What size is the hanger? Now I'm eyeing our entry table and thinking how great that would look. See what you started? LOL!

I love your new heart mini, what a great idea to do those as individual little quilts for your new rack. I bought one of those racks for that little blue quilt you sent me and I love it!

I have seen those but never get one as I rarely make small things but for the many you make it displays it really good

Love your table top hanger. I admit I've always wanted one but never seen them for sale around here! Your heart looks lovely hanging from it too.

I love that idea for displaying those pretty embroidered hearts. You bought youself a great present. That fair isle fabric is perfect for the mittens. I hope you are enjoying your house stitching.

When you buy your own gift, at least you know the recipient will be pleased. I had that problem all the time when I shopped for gifts. Now I just send gift cards and checks. I have one of the hangers somewhere.

It’s a great hanger.! I love mine. I don’t have many places to “sit or stand” things. I took the feet off and my Kathy Schmitz monthly minis hang on a short wall behind Mr Busy’s chair. I’ll show one of them on my blog soon.
