I Like Thursday #415

 Happy Holidays!

It's time for Christmas quilts and favorite mugs and little gingerbread men!  I found the gingerbread cookies at Trader Joe's yesterday, and they are a tasty little treat.  That one guy is already missing a leg - I wonder why?

I always enjoy the after-Thanksgiving changeover from fall decorations to Christmas.  I decorate the little entryway chest seasonally,  and here is my first "attempt," lol!  I think it might need something more - that just means more opportunities to make something for that space, right?!

I haven't put up the Christmas tree yet, but that will happen tomorrow or Saturday.  LeeAnna's question of the week is real tree or artificial tree?  We had real trees for many years - we even went up in the mountains and cut the tree down ourselves several times.  I love the fresh evergreen scent and have missed that ever since we bought the first artificial tree.  But it got more convenient (and, of course, much cheaper) to have an artificial tree to pull out of storage each year.  I think they look just as pretty once decorated, so I'm happy with it now.

Photo from last year.

Have you seen "Wicked?"  I have never seen the stage version, but I got to go to the movie version with some friends yesterday, and it is amazing!  We all loved it - the music, the storyline, the big musical scenes - all amazing.  I had not been to the movies since before Covid, so this was a big treat, and so much fun!

Hope you're having a great week!

Your entryway display is adorable and so festive . The gingerbread cookies look so yummy too. I always enjoyed the smell of a fresh cut tree, but it has been years since we have had a real tree as well. Your 2023 tree was so beautiful ; I look forward to seeing this year's tree. Have a great day. Hugs.

We will be putting our tree up this weekend. We have a real tree. We saw wicked (the play) in Detroit years ago with our daughter. It was really good! Decorating the house is still underway here with some getting done each day. Gail at the cozy quilter

I love that photo with the poor little gingerbread man with his missing leg. I like the transition too. When the kids were all here I had Merry Thanksmas decorations :) We haven't had a real tree since back in the 1980s, and it was a mess with dropped needles. But I really miss that fragrance. I remember Mom and I used to pick out a tree at the little grocery store in our little town, and it was always just a few days before Christmas! My MIL had an aluminum tree that horrified me the first time I saw it, but it grew on me, and now I miss it. :D

It's been artificial for us for years since we learned youngest daughter is allergic to fresh! We determined it was the mold on the fresh and even with washing the tree, she still had issues so artificial it is! Nice transition arrangement. . gingerbread cookies are always tasty with a mug of your favorite beverage!

For years we had a Norfolk Island pine as a Christmas tree. (It served as a houseplant the rest of the year). Forced hot-air heat finally got the best of it (Norfolk Island, the place, is cool and moist). We used a rummage-sale artifical tree for a while. Ten years ago I splurged and got the 4' artificial tree that we're still using. Works fine for us and it holds a lot of ornaments.

Your tree looks very pretty. I got to see the stage version of Wicked and loved it! I will see the movie eventually.

Too bad that one of your gingerbread men is missing a leg. I tell ya, quality control these days is lacking, right? Certainly couldn't be anyone in your house that would chomp that leg off - ha! Will be fun to see what you tuck into that space in your Christmas decor.

Your entry is always decorated so nicely. We are still getting the real tree, fresh from the local farm. My husband is a big fan and I don't mind. I haven't seen Wicked, and honestly, I can't remember the last movie I saw in a theater.

I hadn't seen much about the movie Wicked it has been a long time since we went. I think it is easier to pull out an artificial tree each year but when the kids were young is was fun to go out to the forest where we lived and cut one down. Of course sometimes the size had to be adjusted before we brought it into the house but it was never as bad as Chevy Chase's was in Xmas Vacation lol

My friend recently went and saw Wicked with her daughter and they agree -- very, very good. Did you and/or your friends dress up for the show? My friend wore green leggings and her daughter dressed out in her pink ones. I think she may have worn a crown too! Lol! I saw the play a long time ago with Mom, my sister-in-law, and her mother. We enjoyed it a lot. Your entryway chest looks cute. Wonder what you'll be adding?? Have a great day.

Where did that leg go? I read the first book or two of Wicked, but haven't seen anything. i may have to put this on my list.

I'm sure the Gingerbread guy with the missing leg must have been wanting to try out for the stage version of Shrek. My daughter said that Wicked was a really good movie, she went with friends just before Thanksgiving. I've also heard the 3-D version is worth holding out of if it showing near you.

Love your little display at the entry! You always do such wonderful set ups and I find them inspiring! Wonderful photo of your tree as well! I was wondering about Wicked. We live close to NYC but rarely go there anymore. Sounds like a great movie!
