December Table Scraps

December's Table Scraps project was inspired by the leftover bonus triangles from my Christmas gift exchange tabletopper made earlier in the month -

and by something I saw on Melisa's post a couple weeks ago.  So I quickly stitched up this sweet design - a freebie from Lizzie Kate.  Who knew that there are all kinds of seasonal freebies at that site?!  I even used a scrap of Aida cloth for this one.

Then I put everything together like this!  Just a sweet little mug rug size piece - about 9 x 7.  And the perfect message for the season, too.

The backing comes from my favorite print out of the bundle that I got for the tabletopper gift.

It has a fun selvage - "Naughty and Nice!)

And the other end of the selvage strip I cut looks like this - Santa hats!

Joy's challenge for us this month included using plus signs - ✔️ and rainbow for the color.  My little quilt has red and green, plus gray, cream, and white - it's a partial rainbow at least!

🎄 Peace, Joy, and Love are wished for you this Christmas! 🎄

I love your little mat! Those fabrics are so pretty. The colors are just beautiful, I love that they aren't the "traditional" red/green. What a sweet little stitchery to include in it. Don't spill coffee on it! ;)

What a sweet little finish, great way to use little stitchings. In years past I bought several of Lizzie Kate small patterns.

What a great way to immediately put your triangle trims to use. Love how you elevated the mug rug with a seasonal needle point aphorism.

Such a lovely mat! Adding cross stitch is a great idea, and the message is perfect. The fabrics have a vintage look to them which makes them timeless. Peace, Joy, and Love to you, Diann, and Merry Christmas!

Isn't it fun to get inspired by others? The embroidery is a great addition to the mug rug and you get to use a little piece of Aida. I love that you've used a fabric with white doves. Very symbolic. Very well done! Enjoy! ;^)
