I'm determined to get another Rainbow Scrap Challenge project to the finish line this month, so I decided the next up would be my zipper block quilt top. (This one needs a better name! Anyone have an idea for me?) I had made the backing for it a few months ago, so getting layers sandwiched and ready to quilt didn't take long.
And quilting has begun! Using my favorite serpentine stitch along the seam lines to start.
Sometimes, though, you need a break from the tedious machine quilting, so I took a little time to play with these blocks that I saw on Cathy's post a few weeks ago. I think she called them quarter stars. I love them because they are simple to make - four patches with a combination of squares and HSTs. Perfect for scraps!

So, I think I have arrived at my next RSC project. These will be fun to work on while I chip away at the backlog of unfinished quilt tops in my closet!

How about Keeping it Together? Zippers do that….
I have lots of tops to quilt and that will be my focus for the next while. Those stars look like they will make a fun RSC quilt. Gail at the cozy quilter.
Love those new blocks! How fun. No help with a new name, but I agree taking breaks while machine quilting is a must.
I can see a whole quilt with just that color combination. Zipper blocks would be a good thing to use my plethora of squares.
Oh, yes, I recognize those sunflowers! The four patch way of putting together that classic star block is nice and gives a lot of interest to the design.

I knew I shouldn't look at your blog today (insert that hiding eyes emoji) - those quarter stars are neat, especially those cheerful sunflowers. Might have to make a few of my own.

You almost have that quilt 'all zipped up'! I love the new block idea, especially the sunflower ones. What size HST are you using? I better check out Cathy's version;)

The Zipper blocks make such a fun quilt. Mine are already sewn together, but not quilted yet. I love those quarter star blocks - so cute!!
How about "All Zipped Up"? It's a fun quilt, good luck with the quilting. What a fun idea for the RSC quilt. I've not done an RSC quilt in years. I'm considering if I should start a new one in 2025.
Great title suggestions already. My first thought was Hopscotch. You can never go wrong with sunflower fabric. Such a happy flower.
Between you and Cathy and those stars, I have added another potential RSC project to my list for 2025, when I am trying to trim down the list (to say nothing of my scraps)! I think that Lynne D, originator of the zipper block, actually called her block and the resulting quilt(s) Zip It! That’s what I love to tell DJT!!

Your 'zipper' quilt looks great, love the mix of scrappy colour. Most of the time I really prefer piecing to quilting, but eventually, I too buckle down & get a few finishes done & dusted.

I like "keeping it together" as Anonymous suggested. I use the serpentine stitch often. And, yes, Cathy's units caught my eye, too.

yay for another RSC finish!! go check out stash bandit - she makes a ton of quilts from those Star Quar blocks and she has a bunch of cool layouts - that will be a great RSC block!

Your other commenters are very creative with suggested names for your zipper quilt. I would have a hard time selecting one. I really like the quarter square star block. I need to find a few designs for next year's RSC. I'm hoping to join for the first time.
