A week of blue...

One thing I had to finish this week was the gift for my local quilt group's December get together where we have a gift exchange.  We play that game where you can open a gift or steal one from someone else, and always have a great time!  Here's what I took:

A big pillow and a little pillow-
Santa stayed home with me, but I thought he went well
with the blue pillows for the photo!

Here's what I came home with!  A fun quilty mug, and a gift certificate to my LQS.  That will be enjoyed!  And I'm sure this new mug will need its own mug rug, too.  😘

All that blue in the gift pillows inspired me to get out my bottomless blue scrap bin, and make a few more blocks for the Parts Department.

The blocks at the top are for a blog hop project I'm working on: 2.5 x 5.5 rectangles with stitch and flip white corners.  How lucky that they're all blue and white!
Hand-pieced bowtie blocks made with 2.5 and 1.5 inch squares.
And 4 patches made with 2 inch squares.

It turns out I also have lots of strips and strings, so I made a few of those this week, too.  These are 6.5 inches.

Somehow a green one snuck in there, too!

It has definitely been a week of blue scraps!

Looking good in the parts department. Are you going to be hand piecing the bow tie blocks next year?

those gift cards always come in handy and the mug is cute too - good job on those pillows that was a good idea - some years ago when I was in a guild we had that kind of exchange too - I got a two bowl set of storage for the refrigerator to the microwave and still have them

Such cute pillows! And the mug you received is perfect for a quilter. I had to laugh when you said your blue scrap bin was full. Mine too - and it shares space with purple in the largest of my scrap bins. I think it's time to separate those colors in my blue bin and see what I really have. LOL

Those pillows are darling, I bet they were being stolen left and right. That is my favorite group way to do Christmas gifts - so fun! My blue bin won't even close (slaps head), so I should do something bluesy too.

Caught up on your posts, Diann. Very cute gnome block you made. Also so cute those little pillows. Love that mug you got and yes, it absolutely needs its very own rug. Funny, I have a lot of blue too and I didn't set out to do that. Beautiful blue blocks. One of these days, I want to make a bow tie quilt for the bed. Think I have enough blues to do that.

Cute quilty themed mug! Sounds like a fun time was had by all. Love your blue scrap, inspired blocks. Honestly, I have lots of blue too.

The pillows are lovely. Whoever took them home must be very happy with her prize. I love your mug, actually, I'm a little jealous, lol. It definitely needs a mug rug of its own. Blue scraps are always in fashion. ;^)

Cute mug rug and you can't beat a gift certificate to a quilt shop! Nice haul.

I'm sure those cute cushions were well fought over before going home with the lucky winner(s). Were the two gifts offered together or separately?

Awesome "Dirty Santa" gift!! I was so concerned about the food and Show-n-Tell that I forgot to take a gift for our game. Those are some lovely blue blocks in the works. Sometimes feeling blue isn't a bad thing, Diann. I'd say this week was one of those times! :o))

Whoever got your pillows was fortunate, and I'm sure delighted to have them to tuck into some holiday corner! You came home with good things, too! What fun! Each year, our group plays a game with right/left - a story written up by one member. Each time the word "right" or "left" is heard, you hand your gift that direction until the story is finished, and that's the gift you end up with. It's always a fun evening. Your scrappy projects are looking great!
