Happy New Year! I hope you enjoyed your New Year's Eve, however you celebrated. I always toast the New Year about 10:00, when I know the ball has dropped in New York City, and then go to bed!
This week I finished up the 31st hand-pieced bowtie block - one for each day of the month of December. I'm planning to continue this project into the new year, following the Rainbow Scrap Challenge colors of the month. January's is blue.
I also traced and started stitching "Family Portrait," designed by Melisa of PinkernPunkin Quilting and Stitching. I've never embroidered anything all in black before, but think this will be a cute mini quilt with some black and white borders.
Today's slow stitching will be to get started hand quilting the Dancing Plus quilt. This was a 2022 hand-piecing project for the Rainbow Scrap Challenge, and it's all ready to quilt!
I'm looking forward to spending some cozy time with this quilt on my lap
while it snows here today and tomorrow!

Happy New Year, Diann.
Both your Bloom quilt and Dancing Plus are so cheerful in their bright rainbow colors. Enjoy snuggling while it snows. We are unusually warm, so rain is happening here.

We actually made it to midnight, barely. We were getting ready for bed when the clock struck 12. Enjoy your slow stitching today. Wishing you a safe, happy and productive 2023.
Happy new year! Love your brightly coloured bow ties! The snowman embroidery is perfect for this time of year.
Enjoy your stitching and quilting. Your Dancing Plus quilt is really pretty. I like the snowpeople piece. I stayed up until midnight to watch the ball drop in Times Square and then went to bed to the sound of fireworks. Thankfully they didn't last long. Enjoy being cozy while it snows.
So many great projects!
I wish we had snow instead of rain. Still - I'm looking forward to hunkering down this weekend as well!
love the quilts you are working on - I stay up to about 11 usually and then call it a night - last night though it was midnight as the neighborhood was so loud louder than I have ever heard it with fireworks and even gun shots I'm sure - not supposed to but out here in the country who can enforce it - it was just too loud
Happy New Year
Such perfectly pieced bowties!!! Happy new year, Diann!!!
Just love your scrapy stuff! They always look so cheery. Good luck with your 2023 plans, it's going to be a great year I am sure.
The new year starts for us when the ball drops in NY, too. No sense staying up until midnight! It's interesting; I'm embroidering snowmen with black thread, too!
Happy New Year, Diann. Your quilts are so colorful and cheerful .Seeing your bow tie makes me want to make a few myself. Aaah your Family Portrait block is looking fantastic. I can not wait to see it as a mini. Thank you so much for stitching it. Have a great week.
I always love to see what you are working on. Your Plus quilt is one of my favourites.
You've got a good start on the new year. We actually had the screen doors open for yesterday's Hair of the Dog party. Lots of neighbors and friends dropped in for chili and pot pie.
We didn't make it to midnight, but we were waked by fireworks and wished each other a sleepy HNY. How fun to be stitching on your Dancing Plus quilt!
Such fun projects to hand stitch! I'm going to trace the first snowman from her previous sew along to stitch in blue today. I never make it until midnight on new years either!
I love both of the quilts….the bow tie and the cross. What size are the blocks in those quilts. They are just precious. And I love to read about hand quilters!!!!!
