Bloom has been a year long Rainbow Scrap Challenge project, and amazingly I finished it in the same year it was started! Back in January, I purchased Cynthia Brunz's Bloom module from her Scrap Mixology series, available here.
Throughout the year, I made three blocks every month, with the basket being sewn in the RSC color of the month, and the flowers in any color that I had a scrap of big enough to make a 2.5 inch HST.
One of the great things about Cynthia's Scrap Mixology modules is that she gives you directions for a basic block, and includes several different layout options that create all kinds of varied designs for the finished quilt. I wanted a traditional basket quilt, with an on point layout (which you might be surprised to learn I had never made before).
And that's what I ended up with!
A beautiful garden of flower baskets in wintry December!
Stepping back, you can see what our backyard looked like on Thursday morning. I knew I had to take some photos of the quilt outside to show you the contrast.
The backing and binding are a fun print called "Sprinkles" from Connecting Threads.
Bloom measures about 50 x 50, so not a large quilt, but a good size for covering up in my comfy chair with a book or some embroidery.
I have several Rainbow Scrap Challenge quilt projects from 2022 (and even farther back!) in various stages of construction that will continue into 2023, plus plans for new blocks, too. More about that in next week's Saturday post!

Bloom looks good draped over your red chair - the quilt really turned out well.
Love the quilt! It looks fantastic on your lap and on your chair! The snow made me shiver though.... :) Hugs!
Bloom is beautiful! So many scraps in your baskets! Congrats on a wonderful finish.
My favorite ... until you start something new.
Congrats on a bright and colorful finish. Looking forward to seeing more of your RSC projects this year. You always have such fun ones.
Yay for a finish! It looks great.
Fabulous Finish! Basket blocks just need to be on point, I think! You have had a really productive year, lots of fabulous finishes! I’m anxious to see your blocks for 2023! Happy New Year!
What a lovely way to wrap up 2022! You've made so many cheerful quilts this year. Wishing you and Mike a very Happy New Year!
I really like that Bloom quilt. It's so cheerful. Happy New Year.
What a delightful pattern to use up your scraps and meet the RSC. Even more delightful is the cozy R & R set up created for yourself. All that is missing is a warm cup of cocoa.
What a cozy warm quilt to snuggle under while the snow falls outside. Looking forward to seeing what 2023 brings.
A delightful quilt Diann. And it looks right at home on your chair. Happy New Year!
The baskets are adorable! The photo with the chair (and the pretty tree!) gives a good sense of the scale, too. Have fun snuggling under your pretty creation, and happy 2023!
Congrats on the finish! It's beautiful! I have a basket quilt UFO, hope to get that one done this year.
Congrats on your finish and Happy New Year! You can't go wrong without a snuggly quilt and a Susan Mallery book for a cozy evening!
Your quilt really did turn out nice. I love all the colors in it. It brightens up the wintry days for sure!
Thanks for sharing with Oh Scrap!
Your basket quilt turned out beautifully. Great job with the on point setting. Love the outside photo, but the one with it in use is perfect! Have a great Sunday.
Great job on the basket quilt! It's perfectly scrappy and wonderfully cozy. Happy New Year!
Your Bloom basket quilt is colorful and cheerful! Love it! Happy New Year! :)
Bloom looks fantastic draped over that red chair. . .although, it also looked great against the winter wonderland background! What a fun finish! Happy New Year!
You sure know how to finish a year with a punch! Congratulations on this gorgeous finish. I love, love, love the outdoor pictures. What a lovely landscape! Here's to another productive year! All the best to you and yours. ;^)
So beautiful, looks perfect on the back of your chair. It's also bigger than I thought it was. Happy New Year.
I'm swooning for Bloom! Great finish!
I sure do miss the Colorado winters! Bloom looks perfect in any setting but especially striking with the wintry scene. Your embroidery station looks like such a comfy spot. It must be hard not to sit there all day enjoying the things you love to do. Happy 2023!
What a beautiful finish Diann! I like the layout you chose. My fave photo is the one on the fence, such a pretty scene. And I love your pretty chair!
A bright and happy quilt to say goodbye to 2022! The diagonal quilting lines are the perfect complement to the patchwork.
