Slow stitching this week...

This week, I finished up the last of the purple plus blocks that I've been hand-piecing for one of my Rainbow Scrap Challenge projects.

All of the hexie flowers were appliqued to their background squares and trimmed up so that I could start adding sashing and cornerstones.  That changed them from a slow-stitching project to a machine project, so I'll take them off my Sunday list for awhile,  until I'm ready to hand quilt this little quilt.

Just a few flowers for an example - there are nine of them in the whole quilt.

For today's slow stitching, I'm back to the teacup full of flowers, where I've been adding green stems and leaves and little yellow flowers.

The stitch for the yellow flowers was a new one to me - called the Woven Wheel stitch.  I had to look it up and found this great graphic from The Spruce Crafts site.  It turns out to be a fun stitch to do, and there are a few more to finish up.

I'm stitching away and sharing at Kathy's Quilts for Slow Sunday Stitching!

You are good girl, you read my mind! As I was looking at your piece I wondered how you made the yellow flowers. And then BAM you explained it! Very interesting, I had never heard of that stitch either.

that stitch looks like a good one to learn I can see it adding a bit of texture to a project. Love the positivity blocks I don't know why I never made that one, I think I just had too many things going on when a lot of you started it.

Wonderful projects in progress. I cannot imagine hand piecing all those blocks! Great job. I like your stitchery project too. I am planning a wool applique, so might have a hand work project in the works soon.

Love your slow stitching for this week. Your embroidery is coming along nicely, I've been doing embroidery too and been trying new stitches. I'll give the woven wheel stitch a try. I'm visiting from Slow Stitching Sunday.

I like your plus blocks so much. The text background gives them a look I love. I remember using the Woven Wheel way back in the early 2000s but haven't used it since. Have you ever visited Mary Corbet's Needle ‘n Thread website? I often rely on her videos for stitch demos. (When I first typed "demos" it came out "demons" - eeek!) Anyway, that teacup embroidery is charming.

Before I forget, I must say what a treat it was to see your mini showcased at Quilt Fabrication. It looked so pretty there, Diann.
Always enjoy seeing your embroidery...and isn't it fun to learn a new stitch too.
