I liked this view of Mom's front yard. She has the typical Arizona landscaping with a dry wash river running through it, which fills up with water when it rains.
While we were there, one night my mom served us these butternut squash noodles and they were really good! They're found in the frozen veggies department at the grocery store and you cook them in the microwave.
We're having them at our house tonight.
I enjoyed doing a little stash enhancement while we were on our trip. I decided my stash needed some reds, and found these.
And I have an idea for using them already, of course! Did you see that Patty of Elm Street Quilts and Kristin of Simple.Handmade.Everyday are having a new Hand-pieced QAL? It's starting next week, and I'm thinking I'll participate again this year since I enjoyed it so much last year. Looks like I'll be making a red and white quilt this time!
Click HERE for Patty's post about the QAL.
Unfortunately, when we got home, our car wouldn't start. It wasn't unexpected because it had been having problems off and on for awhile. This time it was dead as a doornail! So, this happened.
I don't like that it had to be towed to the shop,
but I do like that our insurance covered it! 👍
And now it is fixed and working just fine, hooray!
And before I finish, I have to share my weekly embroidery from up through Tuesday evening. We're working on the top part now.
Love this! Hope I can get all the wrinkles out
when it's time to finish this up, lol!

Glad you had a nice visit with your Mom. Did she used to live in a colder area? I'm going to check out the QAL but will probably just watch from afar. It amazes me that I love to embroider and cross stitch, but hand quilting just defeated me. Your embroidery is so pretty!
Sounds like you had a great trip! We will definitely try those butternut noodles! Bummer about the car but at least it is fixed now. Your embroidery looks great!!! Have a great week Diann!
if you drove to and from your mom's in that car I'm glad it waited until you got home to quit! I hate having problems of that type on the road and the last trip we took we had too much of all that - I can't believe it is Thursday again already the week has flown by. I looked at those noodles just this week at the grocery but didn't buy them I know Mike won't eat them no matter how cooked as he refuses to eat squash of any type and I doubt he even knows what they taste like as I have never seen him eat squash in the 40 years we have been together unless he doesn't realize they have been added to something so "squashed" up that he doesn't know they are there! How did your mom serve them plain or with a sauce - I might get them just for me. I have thought of getting a veggie spiral machine for me. Your mom's neighborhood looks nice and quite
So glad you enjoyed your trip, and wow, that top red is adorable!! Such a fun print. Sorry about the car, we have been so fortunate in our cars, knock on wood!! Now I am off to check out the new QA!
Hi Diann! I just love your hand embroidery project. It is really coming along. I also love that Green Giant has gotten on board with making veggie spirals. I am really sensitive when I eat noodles so I've created my own spirals from zucchini and squash. It's so nice to be able to purchase them already made! Yummy! Your red stash enhancement fabrics looks so pretty. I'm sorry you had a dead battery but how fab that insurance covered it. ~smile~ Roseanne
I just love seeing how the southwest landscaping looks! Glad to hear your car is back in working order.
I love your likes this week and totally agree with how good it feels to be home even though one has been in sunnier climes...And done a little stash enhancement ha! Snap! Your stitchery is just gorgeous.
Glad you arrive home safely from your trip. Great fabric acquisitions. Love the landscaping at your mom's. Glad the car was able to be fixed.
Yay for a fun trip. Boo for a bad car. Glad it's all fixed. Enjoy playing with the red fabric. :-)
I immediately thought of you when I saw that hand-pieced QAL, wondering if you would be joining in. I need to go look at it again and give it some thought. I'll be gone much of March and April, so careful planning is requilred. Glad your car is fixed, and love those little inchies (and the red fabric)!
Hi Diann, I was intrigued by your Mom's front area...I've never seen such before. Is it because grass won't grow there due to the heat?
Yes to a red and white quilt; I've been collecting reds for several years with that idea in mind. I've looked at the HQAL and am dithering...have so much to finish up.
I actually remember the lovely blocks you made last year. And your embroidery piece is awesome.
Yes, we got record daily rainfall too just the other day. Here come the weeds, here come the weeds. Haha. Love your new red fabrics,
Glad the car is fixed. Enjoy the weekend.
That's a cool embroidery piece. It has me thinking of samplers from long ago. That must've been a big relief that your car came back to life. Ours is old and leaky, but hanging in there. Would love to see it go another two years.
