Strings and Things

I pulled out my blue strings and some phone book pages this week to get some dark blue string blocks made.

I think of this as sort of Zen sewing - mindless, almost meditative, simple and satisfying, and these blocks finish up quickly!

Except if there's an "Oops!"

I wondered where that other piece went!

And a bright rainbow of 6!

This week's Tiny Tuesday block was a fun new one to try - an appliqued basket.  Thanks, Angela, for the directions and template!

I can see myself making more of these in the future - I have really been enjoying hand stitching lately.

All the blue Tiny Tuesdays for June -

Just for fun, each month I've been making some crumb "slabs" with the bits and pieces that are left over from the other projects.  There aren't enough to make something with yet, but they do create a fun rainbow!

those blocks look great - I never did get around to doing more of the Panama Pyramid blocks that I need in the dark blue - will need to get to that this week

Your string blocks look pretty fabulous together. I have been thinking of starting another with my darker fabrics. We have the youngest grandson on Tuesday so I might get him to pick the fabrics while I sew.

I've experienced that "oops" a few times... once, it was an entire block that disappeared.. I had sewn it to the back of another quilt block ( the phone book page hid it).

Great blocks! I have been wanting to play with slab blocks too. Maybe that should be my new RSC project. Your rainbow collection is beautiful!

Your basket is adorable! Those slab blocks are a wonderful rainbow of color.....
I really need to take time and start sorting the baskets of scraps and 'do' something with them.... but must finish a project or two first! Those string blocks might work......

Love your diamond string blocks! I've definitely had that same kind of "oops!" moment :)

Those string blocks are pretty, and I love the color slabs. They will be fun to work with at some point. That little basket is so fun. I really enjoy seeing the little blocks each week!

Got a chuckle out of your "missing" string. I'm glad it turned up. I've been creating crumb "or slab" blocks each month too and I'm not sure how they will turn out either. YOur Tiny Tuesday blocks are sweet.

Lol on the ooops! My problem is usually dropping them on the floor and not knowing about it.
I've forgotten, how big are the string blocks? They are pretty!
With your "crumbs", you'll be churning out tiny pieced quilts just like Crazy Mom Quilts. ;)

Good for you , hand stitching your basket. This time, I opted for a buttonhole stitch on my machine. I’ll post it soon,
Tiny Tuesday is sure a fun project!
