Besides trying to figure out all of its "features" we've just been taking lots of different pictures in different light and locations to see what it does, so for I Like Thursday, I decided to share my favorites of the week.
In my basement sewing room -
Diann, unpicking a seam on Beothuk Star - oops! :)
Outdoors - happy red and white petunias!
We liked the color in this one!
Late in the day - the sunset -
A mountain photo - Long's Peak -
Zooming in on flowers by the river -
My old camera does not do close-up shots well,
so this is something I'll keep playing with!
Yarn-bombed trees in Estes Park - these just make me smile!
And a photo of my completed Beothuk Star quilt top - I've had a hard time getting the colors in this one to come out right with the old camera, but this looks just about right to me!
The background fabric is Kona Butter, but it was looking an awful lot like Lemon in my older photos, and there's a big difference in the two.
This morning, I'm off to finding backing and binding fabric for Beothuk Star, so I can get it basted and quilted. I'm ready for a finish!
Happy Thursday, friends! I hope you're having a great week! I'm joining in with LeeAnna and the other I Like Thursday bloggers at Not Afraid of Color.
Lucky you! Those are some great photos. Of course, you know I love the sunset! What brand?
Congratulations on your new camera. I love the photos, especially the one of you! Your Beothuk Star is looking awesome.
New cameras are so fun to play with!! I love my point and shoot camera so much (with its dozens of different settings) that I bought four more of the same model on ebay, LOL!! Now I have one at hand wherever I am.
Yes curious minds want to know what camera! Your pic's are great. Did you use flash on any of them?
Lovely Star quilt--that sunset sky is amazing--i can see a quilt like that...hugs, Julierose
Love your sewing space ..... nice to see you in action too, Diann!
Lovely photos! Beautiful sunset! Love that yarn bombed tree that you were closest to ..... but if I’d stitched that I wouldn’t want to part with it, it’s gorgeous!
Great quilt, those fabrics are really pretty!
Cameras are nice on phones but there is just something about having a good camera to take photos! Love the yarn bombed tree. Your quilt is lovely.
I can be fun getting a new camera but also very frustrating to me anyhow trying to learn how to use it!! What is with the yarn bombed trees? why did they do that I wonder - they do look pretty though. I wish the camera's came with a instruction book like they use to the last two that I got didn't and you have to try to figure it out on your own. I looked for mine to see if I could find out more info on line and I couldn't and I know I am probably missing out on a lot that mine could do.
Good Morning, Diann, You new camera takes fabulous photos because of the eye of the holder and beholder. Love the one of you at work on your Beothuk Star, which worked out beautifully. Love your fabrics. I have backing and binding for mine. I need to get to the quilting. It is out of the sewing queue and into the quilting queue. If my quilts could talk they would be telling me to move the queue along ... ;) Pat
Your star is lovey! Have fun with the new camera!
Ooh. I like your new camera. The sunset photo is beautiful. It almost has the same red and whites as the petunias! Your Beothuk Star quilt top is so pretty - I like your choice of colors.
What fun, a new camera! Fun to see the photo of you in action, even if you're on a hot date with the Ripper! Haha! So many pretty photos; your camera catches some nice color! Love your Beothuk Star. Now I have to go check out Kona butter!
Hi Diann! Your new camera does its job well. I love those colors in Beothuk especially that purple with the blue on the outside. You'll be all set for the parade on Saturday! The red and white petunias followed by the sunset in all of its glory is just fab and breathtaking. ~smile~ Roseanne
oh how beautiful. What camera did you get? I still don't know how to adjust the white meter in mine. LeeAnna
Hi Diann, Playing with a new camera is so much fun. Your photos are great And I especially liked seeing you hard at work/play with your stitching. Your Beaothuck Star top is fantastic.
I found Youtube videos useful when I was learning about my new camera...which is 4 years old now. I am looking now for one that can do macro as my interest in extreme close ups seems to have grown.
What everyone else said! Beautiful sunset, terrific Beothuk Star quilt, I've never been much of a photographer. I have a couple old simple cameras somewhere, but I never mastered using them. Other people seem to be able to take good photos with their phones, but I find the colors are very true with my Samsung smartphone. I'm sure you'll have fun taking pictures with the new camera.
Your quilt top is lovely!!! I love a good camera, haven't had a really good one in a while. That sunset photo is stunning! Have fun in the studio!
Oh that sunset! What a great camera. I miss having one because the iphone photos just aren't as good. Your Beothuk Star quilt is really unusual and I like it.
Congrats on the new camera, and thanks for sharing all the fun pictures. Your star quilt top is lovely, that periwinkle purple is fantastic. And I love your petunias. I have to get some annuals out this weekend, a few petunias for sure (they're my favorite) but I also need to get some heat hardier ones for my very sunny front flower bed.
My favorite picture is you sewing barefoot in your studio! Life is great when you can spend time (making lovely quilt tops like your star!!) in the comfort of your own home in your comfy clothes and no shoes! Congrats on the new camera, too!
It looks like your new camera takes great pictures!I love the quilt star top. I really love the fabrics. I love seeing you in your studio! You can tell that's your happy place!
